Can one of the experts please tell my if there is truly a visual difference between the WF ACA H&A verus the WF ES? By looking at the pics, most of the ES have visible H&A, so is the ACA H&A really worth the extra money? (we're talking a 1.5+ ct RB stone).

Also, what are your opinions regarding the WF ACA H&A versus Good Old Gold's AGS0 H&A?

Thanks in advance!

Hard to say really. its been covered before on here if you search.

But - i think its fair to say - some ES stones are ones that have been cut by their site holder in Antwerp and *just* missed out on ACA status for one reason or another. others are completely off the required H&A standard Brian demands, but are still beautiful stones (and often appeal to those that dont like the ordered look of a H&A)
Other stones are ones that WF have seen on the open dealer network and bought for their own stocks - a bit like Good Old Gold buy their stones for the shop''s stock.

So you can only just ES stones on a stone by stone basis - there are some real beauties in the inventory, weither its worth paying the premium for the ACA range - depends what its up against - but the piece of mind thing going for the ACA is worth something - you know with those that the proportions of the stone are within a particular range that Brian considers ''ideal''

Hi,

I have both ACAs and an ES and cannot tell the difference since my ES looks nearly to be a H&A. By getting an ES, I was able to go up to an E color stone, so for me it was worth picking out what I thought was the "perfect" ES. Like Lord Summerisle said you''ll need to judge each stone individually, but with the size you''re looking for, I''d for sure at least consider an ES.

How about WF ACA H&A versus GoG or JA H&A - is there a difference?

Hopefully somebody chimes in. I''m not sure about the actual stone quality as I''ve never seen a GOG stone in person. Online Ideal Scope images look comparable. . .The only noticable difference I''ve seen is in price. Right now GOG has a .4 G VS2 for $1173 and WF has a .41 ACA of same color/clarity for $991. As a person who is ALWAYS on a tight budget, I would opt to purchase from WF as when my DH says I have X amount to spend, he means it so those few hundred matter!

Anybody else have any input re: WF ACA H&A versus GoG or JA AGS0 H&A???

Thanks in advance!

Good question! I''ve been wondering the same thing...

Is the HCA a good way to determine a "good" ES from a "so-so" ES?

I do appreciate the "peace of mind" that would come with purchasing a certified H&A.

The HCA is a weeding out tool. For my stone, I found the Ideal Scope and ASET images to be the most useful.
