Hi all,

I have been fairly unsuccessful thus far with many near purchases (either value of diamond went up before my purchase or the diamond itself being purchased before I could pull the trigger!)

I am now looking at the WF expert selection and was wondering what you all think?

Diamond

Would love to go up to an ACA but the next available doesn't look as eye clean as this one and I don't want to be below 1ct.

Thanks in advanced!

Hi,

Just to add,

I also have this from James Allen:
1ct,VS2,F
GIA

Thanks all!

The G VS2 from Whiteflash is beautiful. I like it more than the James Allen stone, and Whiteflash has a much better upgrade policy in case you ever want to upgrade down the road.

Thanks for your input! I was thinking the arms might be on the thinner side (I usually look for those star shapes in the middle)

What do you think of these?

Would you not consider the diamond I found on JA?

Do they have an Ideal-Scope image of that one? I'm a bit concerned about leakage.

I'm afraid not, which is also my concern as it looks good on paper and video (&hca!).

I think most JA stone, unless it's in their true hearts range, don't have these images? That's what I've found when asking for the idealscope /aset images.

I wonder whether only a portion of vendors of JA provide these images in which then goes on to be selected as their True Hearts collection? But that is another kettle of worms!

I too have unfortunately found they rarely have Ideal-Scope images on the stones I've asked about.

The video shows an area that might indicate leakage. Since you're abroad, this stone may not be worth the risk.

In the video, if I am looking for light leakage, what am I looking for? Elements where I can see directly through the Diamond?

Surely their true hearts collection only comes from a subset of their vendors who actually do provide these images?

At the 7:00 position between the arrows, there's an issue in the pavilion. An Ideal-Scope image would tell us whether or not there's leakage there. I don't know why some stones have these images and others don't, but your theory has merit.

I do think the Expert Selection stone from Whiteflash is still worth considering and is a better bet than this JA stone.

This stone has medium fluorescence but has been thoroughly vetted for issues, being part of the Brian Gavin Blue line. The proportions and light return are impeccable.

Thanks, I think I'll try and get an ACA. Might have to go just below 1ct to get it in Budget (or go with H)... 0.956ct basically counts as 1ct right:lol:

Many people on this forum have had less than good experiences with James Allen's customer service.

However, most of us have had amazing experience with WF's customer service. WF has always gone above and beyond for me personally.

For me, the quality of the diamond, the upgrade policy and the customer service, make choosing WF over JA would be a no-brainer.

The specs look stunning...I'm loving the 40.8/35.0/56.7 combo.
I do see some very minor leakage near the culet, and that may translate into being a bit problematic as the diamonds moves and tilts, but maybe not.
Best bet is to request WF take a side by side video of this one and an ACA with a similar spread so that you can get a feel for it with a basis of comparison.

One/both of these may be a good option to ask about a side-by-side video:

How about this one?

That one isn't 0.956... :lol-2:

Guess it doesn't count as 1ct then.

I believe this is the one OP was referring to, but I thought being able to stick with a G might be nice.

The 0.954 even has a slightly bigger spread to couple with the better color grade...not that it'll be a visible change in diameter, but pretty cool to see the specs, nonetheless.

Haha I was looking at both the G & H and did notice that the G was larger!

Think I'll go for the G. There is a 1ct G, ACA, Si1 but it doesn't look eye clean and I think it'd bother me.

The only other one that I could find in that price realm is this H SI1 that has a pretty clean table.
You'd have to sacrifice a color grade, however.
Is it enough of an increase in spread to make it worthwhile? Only you can answer that...it does get you to the 1ct mark, though. Tough call.

The 1.024 doesn't look eye-clean to me either. Don't forget to put the 0.952 on hold if you like it but are still thinking!

So have just been talking to WF and they have confirmed the 1.024ct G SI1 is eye clean from 6inches.

I was looking at the 1.084ct G SI1before this which I am very sure is eye clean. The 1.024ct is $600 cheaper. seeing as WF has confirmed this to be eye clean, am I just paying that extra for the 1.084ct to be mind clean (+ the extra size)?

1.084...it has a 6.64mm spread, which is right on the cusp of being noticable bigger than the 1.024, plus you get the benefit of being clean in your mind. That's how *I* would choose, if my wallet were being opened.

I agree!

Thanks. I was also leaning towards the 1.08.

Last 1,(i promise!) 1.06 F Si1 ACA

Pretty much same price, less clean and smaller but bump in colour. TRAY_1.024-1.061-1.084.jpgSBSW_1.024-1.061-1.084.jpgSBS_1.024-1.061-1.084.jpg

The 1.084 looks significantly cleaner under the table than the other two. The color difference might not be noticeable unless they were side-by-side. If it were me, I would stick with the 1.084.

Agreed...I think the 1.084 would give peace of mind for table clarity/cleanliness.
