People with some understanding of weight loss have always said it's just a matter of calories. No need to spend money on the expensive cookie diet...go buy twinkies everyone!

What I did find interesting is that a lot of other health factors improved...but I would think they would improve at first with the weight loss.

I wonder how many people are going to try the twinkie/oreo/dorito diet.

Hmph, I already started!! :naughty:

Hahaha, I LOVE that man for proving my point with that ridiculous cookie diet lady!

I loved this article! I've been arguing for years with friends who swore that eating specific diet foods would help them lose weight - they were eating just as many calories per day, but it was in "diet" foods, so they thought it was ok. I love that somebody just went out there and proved it!

Fwiw, in college I lost 10-15lbs on a bagle + cream cheese and ham + cheese sandwich diet. I ate some other things, but I had a bagel for lunch every day, often for breakfast too (sometimes cereal), and usually a ham and cheese wrap (with fruit and veggies on the side for dinner). For me the key was eating the same thing so I could keep my calories down - it didn't matter whether I ate "diet" foods or carrot sticks or whatever. All carb diets all the way!

Realize though...the professor doesn't make a statement of saying it's a good thing! But...good job!

Totally thought of you here NF, as I remember seeing your post on the cookie thread.

Ha!

I don't know that it would be ethical, but I would be very interested to see this done in an actual scientific study. Have 1 unhealthy food group and 1 healthy food group and then measure cholesterol and other health markers after 2 months, 4 months, etc., and then follow them longitudinally. Very interesting!

See? This is exactly why cake DOES go with diet soda!!

Lost 40 lbs total....

two words: portion control.
