I learned about diamonds on this site -- had the ring made from a sketch by a local Boston Jeweler. The idea was that I liked the Tiffany & Co six prong design, but decided to change it for change-sake (to be different). I wanted a Platinum head set into a gold ring rather than have the head interrupt the ring like in the Tiffany. The Tifanny design is fantastic for 100% Platinum but I thought that for a two-tone look it would be better to keep the ring continuous. We kept the stone high enough so that a wedding band can sit beside it and clear the stone. It is 18K, and the head was made from Platinum wire pounded into a bowl shape. The stone was purchased from www.niceice.com, and is a 1.02 carat AGS 000 D-VS1 with a Cut Advisor score of 0.8
