Just completed 30 mins on the ellip - I MISS MY TREADDY!!!! I really am feeling different without it ( paranoid) and it isn''t a good feeling. Also my legs are so tender, I haven''t used leg weights since Sunday and my legs are still tender....Oh well!! Having said that, my legs feel like granite and I have some serious definition in my calves!

Checking in quickly, been MIA due to a family issue, but I am still around and hoping to get a workout in once things calm down a bit.

Sharon - I hope the weather is NOT pants for your Hubby''s trip...hehehe....

HI:

Heehheee LL. Take care of yourself.

Rod--I hope you are feeling better. I like my homemade lemon drink if I ever feel chilly inside (Dr Weil''s concoction..fresh squeezed lemon, water, lemon zest, grated fresh ginger, crushed garlic and cayenne pepper...boil for 5 minutes and serve with honey. Often I just have the fresh lemon and ginger drink and it makes me feel better.....)

It was 20 (c) degrees yesterday--thought I could suntan...by midafternoon pants blew in and we got icy snow!!! I tell ya....Alberta weather. No walking outdoors my me today--I might slip and break my hip!! Routine bike and weights at home.

Have a good day peoples!!!

cheers--Sharon

How much pantsy snow do you have? I like snow but we rarely get it here these days, but it has been cold for Oct, so you never know!

HI LL:

Enough to cover the roofs and ground--icicles on the trees like a hoare frost...but I suspect it will melt as it is predicted to be double digit temps next week. Quite pretty...

As for the drink, you can''t taste the garlic for the cayanne pepper!! lollolol Actually it is kinda potent--supposed to boost your immunity while skanking down those awful germs/virusues that cause colds...I ususally just crush one piece of garlic and throw in a dash of pepper--because the pepper really doesn''t knock your socks off--but I haven''t had a cold in so long I don''t drink it much that way (I just make the lemon and ginger for myself whihc is yummy) but when my DH feels lousy I make it for him and he sleeps well and feels better!! (mental thing I suppose, but hey if the shoe fits.......!)

cheers--Sharon

I bet it is so pretty where you are Sharon, I love snow!!!

I bet that drink is very good for you and a great immune system booster! I used to like a wee lemon toddy at times with a teeny drop o' whiskey in it....
25.gif
Very good for colds also! Out of interest, Diana Princess of Wales used to be partial to ginger tea, said to be excellent for the digestion!

Quick sidetrack for Rod and other Bimmer drivers:
Why on earth does my Bimmer need so frequent and costly maintenance?
29.gif
I've spent well over $5K this year alone in maintenance. What is going on? It's only a year 2000 car with 133K miles. I had to have the 2 back window motors replaced, all rotors replaced (every year or alternate year), all 4 new wheels (every 2 years it feels like), the manual gear needed to be opened and pin replaced, something about alignment crap that's costing another $600 to $700, and now the fan is making wierd noises. All this in just 2007. This car is eating into my diamond upgrade budget!
14.gif

I'm taking a quick break and checking in. I'm afraid Rod had a horrible night last night. I don't have a cold, but I picked up some little bug that made me feel achey and chilled, but am feeling pretty much over that now. The problem last night was I was tired, but could not sleep. And the more I could not sleep, the more it worried me and finally, it was time to get up and I had only rested, but never slept the entire night. And, I took 3 Simply Sleep (Tylenol PM, without the Tylenol part) and then drank a beer at like 2 AM, hoping that would knock me out. But nooooooo.......I just tossed and turned and watched the clock and got interrupted by the kitties who evidently come and go all night long (who knew they could be so active in the middle of the night??). Right now, I don't know what is keeping me going as I'm completely beat and my eyes have dark circles underneath. Charlie's going to the gym tonight. I am not. I'm going to go home, eat a nice bowl of soup, get in my jammies and curl on the couch with the kitties and watch some tv. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I'm sure if I get some sleep tonight, I'll be back to my normal feel better self tomorrow.

Sharon, thanks for the drink recipe. I was right with you until you added GARLIC. Oh my, I'm sure it's healthy, but garlic oozes out of my pores when I eat it. And SNOW.......Sorry, Rod doesn't do snow, no matter how pretty. My policy on snow is........."it can be looked at, but NEVER touched!!"

Chrono, I'm sorry your Bimmer is costing you money to keep going. No car is immune from service issues. I have friends who have BMW's that have lasted forever and aside from routine maintenance (brake pads, oil, etc.,) have not had any service issues. I am sorry your's is starting to cost so much. I know that can be frustrating. Hopefully, the investment you're making now will hold for a long time and you're bling budget can grow again!

Gail, I hope your hubby does find me on the forums sometime. They allow Private Messages, which is nice!

Phoenix......I know how you feel about taking two days in a row off. I too feel ultra guilty if I do that. The reality is that it's probably a good thing to do once in a while. You are so dedicated, don't worry and add extra guilt to your life.

tdiddy, I too am sorry you had to call of the marathon. I'm sure you'll get your anemia under control and you'll be marathoning again soon. And, I would be happy to be your car advice guy whenever you need help!!

I'll likely check in later..........

Hi All,

Not much to report; I''ve been holed up in our room trying to get the three assignments that are due on Monday completed so if we go home (Saturday) and have no power I''ll be in the clear as far as school is concerned, at least until Tuesday when I start a new class. Our neighborhood opened up again this morning and one of our neighbors checked out our house thoroughly, it''s in good shape. The fire burned the garage of a house 5 down from ours and two more houses about 10 down from ours are totally destroyed, so we are counting our blessings.

DeeJay and Monnie, thanks for the offers; I''m just sitting in our room doing homework. I managed to do a load of laundry using the hotel''s washer and dryer so we have some clean clothes. J has been out trolling the city to give me some peace and quiet so I can concentrate, he''s in the other room snoring now, neither one of us has slept much these past few nights. We went for a walk this afternoon which was nice. I''m not feeling very social, unfortunately or perhaps fortunately as I have so much school work to do.

Food is, well, a disaster, but whatever. I''ll deal with it when I get home. My clothes still fit, we''ve been walking quite a bit and on we go. I''m doing my typical late breakfast, no lunch, dinner. We ate at Maggiano''s last night, so I now finally know what you all are talking about. We both thought it was quite good for being a chain; we ordered 1/2s of everything and split it and it was a fine dinner for a reasonable price. It certainly didn''t compare to Everest, oh yum I''m saliviating just thinking about that dinner, but it was good enough.

Rod, good for you for going home to rest. Hope you feel better soon.

Tdiddy, so sorry about the cancelled marathon. I have no advice for you about the 1/2 ironman but I can tell you how much I admire you.

DeeJay, I''m so sorry the boots hurt your knees! You certainly looked beautiful though.

Have a great evening all.

Hi all. Well I am pooped. I walked 3 miles and then mowed our big lawn (hopefully this will be the last time we have to mow it for the year but I am not holding my breath) and then trimmed some trees. Hubby gets his wish of homemade whole wheat pizza, I bought ham and have pineapple ready as a topping, mmmm mmmm good. hehe

Sounds like people are busy.

Kimi, well I am glad you are safe. My friend said she finally let her daughter play outside for a short while since her daughter felt restless. I am glad your house is fine; that is a big relief I am sure! Glad you are getting homework done. That is too bad about your neighbors garage but I am glad everyone is safe. Enjoy your lovely walk; I bet the leaves are yellow and pretty and would make for a gorgeous walk. eta: I heard Everest has to best French food!

Steph! Yes, yes, house cleaning is a workout for sure; great job!!! How are you? Little Andrew? Yay for cutting out the refined sugars; I notice for me it helps tons! I don't have as many crazy cravings, whooo hooo for you! Sounds like you had a nice spa day.

Lorelei, did your order an new part (or are they having a hard time tracking one down) for the treddy? Those ellipticals are a good workout so kudos!!!

Monnie, you are done with the book
6.gif
wow! I read it before I got to bed; I am on page 70. Lula is my favorite character, how about you?

Rod, I hope you feel better soon. I am glad you are going home to rest. Gosh, that is awful about not being able to sleep, poo! I hope you have very sweet dreams tonight. Tylenol Nightime makes me anxious; I can't sleep either when I take that stuff. Sending sweet dream vibes and get well vibes too!

Sharon, snow!!! Your hubby will be happy to come to New Mexico; today it was 78 degrees and super lovely. Snow is pretty but I only like to have it snow here once in a while.

Chrono, sorry your car is pants; that is why I want a Japanese car for my next vehicle. European cars are expensive to fix, so sorry! I want you to have more bling too!!!

Marcy, I saw the full moon last evening and it was gorgeous!!! Glad your pj's are nice and toasty.

DeeJay, how are you? Is your knee better? I hope so. I read in my lappy thread that you are going out to buy a laptop. Which one did you get and do you like it? I am sorry the internet was pants for you; that is awful!

Have a marvelous evening all

Hello all!

Today my best girlfriend came over and we took the dogs to the park for a while. She can't belive how big Oscar is already--and he ain't done yet! Then we went to Ben Pao for lunch (I'm sure EVERYTHING I ate was bad for me, but I enjoyed it at the time.) Afterwards I went over to one of my company's other offices to use the computer because there was an internet outage in my area today and I made it a point to walk home FAST when I was done. It was only 1.3 miles but I'll take what I can get. Of course I had to walk over there too but my friend doesn't go very fast at all so I didn't get much out of that.

Stephi, I don't know if you saw my post in your laptop thread but the HH got home to late to go to Costco tonight so it will be a few days yet.

Kimi, glad you were able to get a little laundry taken care of and that you're still having a good time here. Hope you can go home soon though.

Rod, sorry to hear that you are a bit under the weather. Hopefully you will get a decent night's sleep tonight.

Sharon, the drink concoction sounds... um... interesting, but all of your medical advice has been spot on so far so maybe I should try it next time I have a cold or something!

Lorelei, I do like a little lemon toddy myself when circumstances dictate.

Steph, your spa night sounds wonderful!

Marcy, my house is littered with half full water bottles. It used to be half finished cans of diet Dr. Pepper but I'm drinking much more water these days.

Monnie, *how fast* do I have to do the hussle? And once we get up there can we at least take the elevator back down?!

TalDogMom, how's the detox going today?

Sarah, I know what you mean about the weather. It just hit me today that it's about to be COLD here!

PG, we all need a day off now and then so don't feel bad at all about having taken an evening for yourself.

Diver, how are you and the munchkins doing today? I saw the new pics of Delaney in the preggo thread and she iis SO adorable!!

I just had time to quickly skim today''s posts... got back from dinner with two of my best girlfriends, always fun. We had south indian which is healthier (less creamy) than north indian, and I had a dish made from chickpea flour, avoided the bread and my dish didn''t come with rice so I''m still doing fine on the processed carb thing I hope. As I said when I started "detox" I will be a little easier on myself this weekend going out to dinner, b/c to be able to keep this up a couple weeks (and possibly longer) I need to know I can still eat out sometimes (which I love). So I really hope we eat sushi this weekend., white rice and all, b/c I love it!

Steph that''s awesome that you are doing the no processed carb thing with me! We can keep eachother on track! And definitely you should live it up on your birthday - being "good" for a couple weeks will make your birthday cake taste even better!

Rod I hope you are feeling better soon. Is the weather changing there? SOmetimes that can trigger a cold or bug. I''m glad the weekend is coming so you can rest up. I haven''t been sleeping very well this week - have been waking up worrying about things, I know you said you do that too sometimes - so I am really looking forward to catching up on sleep this weekend too.

I should go, DH just got home and I want to spend some time w/ him! Hope everyone''s night is going well.

OH, and that pound I lost yesterday? Back on today

Hi everyone.
35.gif
I am so glad it’s Friday tomorrow.
Lorelei, hi! Yay for getting in a workout. Take it easy!
Steph, your evening of pampering yourself sounds divine. You and your husband have B-Days on the same day? That is cool.
Sharon, sorry to hear about the icy snow. I HATE ice for fear of falling.
Chrono, ouch to such costly car repair bills this year. That’s got to hurt.
Rod, sorry you didn’t sleep well but I am glad to hear you are doing better.
Kimi, I am so relieved to hear your home is fine but sure feel bad for your neighbors and everyone else who lost their home. Good for you keeping busy with school and walking a lot.
Skippy, yay for a long walk and mowing the lawn. Your pizza sounds wonderful. That is my favorite pizza Canadian bacon and pineapple The moon is gorgeous tonight too. I am glad you enjoyed it.
DeeJay, that is great taking the dogs for a walk. I am sure they loved it. I am sure your lunch was great. My mom brought me over a small piece of homemade apple pie. I heated it up and put some slow churned caramel swirl slow churned with it and decided if I gained a pound from it – it was worth it. I had calories left so I’m not really worried. When the movie Signs was out peopled teased me about being the girl who left all the glasses of water out – I told them it worked since they didn’t see any aliens around.
TanDogMom, rats for the pound coming back but I am sure it will be gone again soon. I am glad you enjoyed lunch with your friends.
Have a great evening.

I went to the family owned grocer I''ve mentioned before and bought some Cajun Cabbage with chorizo sausage soup. I really wanted homemade chicken and vegetable, which they usually have, except tonight. The soup was good (spicey though), but it was just what I needed. I am looking forward a good nights sleep, but after a bad night like last night, I start to worry about being able to sleep again, so I hope I don''t repeat last night''s non-sleep event.

Wow Skippy, you''re still mowing the lawn, eh? I must admit I don''t miss having a lawn to mow. But your walks and yard work are surely helping you stay healthy and fit!

Kimberly, I''m glad you and John are good and safe in your hotel room in Chicago, but I''m sure you''re ready to go home and see your house and be grateful it''s still there. One can only imagine the despair people who lost everything in the fires must be feeling.

Gail sorry the pound you lost found you again. But you know a couple pounds up or down really doesn''t mean much? Of course you do!

That''s it for moi for the day. Tomorrow''s Friday (YAYAYAY) and Sushi night (YAYAYAYAY).

Hi, everyone. I did really well as far as eating yesterday. I didn''t have any refined carbs....the only sugar I had was from a few strawberries and grapes for a snack. I really feel good when I eat like this and I wasn''t craving sweets all day like I usually do. I also cut out diet coke, which is a huge thing for me. Replacing it with 1 cup of coffee in the morning with sugar free creamer, water and green tea. Hopefully I can keep this up until my bday! I didn''t get to run this morning...it is rainy and yucky out, so I think I will try to go tonight when Adam gets home from work. Everyone have a super day
1.gif

Skippy....your homemade pizza sounds yummy, how did it turn out? You are the walking queen...way to go:)

Tdiddy...I had to cancel running in my first 5k a few weeks ago because I came down with a really bad cold...it kind of stinks because I had been training for months for it, but oh well...there are always other races:)

TanDog...sounds like you are doing great and I agree, I love to go out to eat and knowing I can do that every once in a while makes it a whole lot easier the rest of the time!

DeeJay...I wouldn''t worry about your meal too much...sounds like you walked it all off:)

Marcy...I actually share a birthday with my son...he was born on my 26th birthday, the best gift ever!

Rod....you are making me want sushi, yum yum

Kimberly...glad to hear your house is okay....wishing you a safe return home

Hello all! Just back from 65 mins on the elliptical. My knee felt OK but I kept the incline pretty low to be safe. And then... I went to get off and I had to exit to the right because there was someone on the machine to my left. I swiveled in some funny way on my right knee. YOWCH! I let out a noise that I've only ever heard emitted by cats up until this point. The person beside me had her ipod on so I didn't think she heard me, but she looked at me kind of funny so maybe she did. I'm trying to be careful now, but when you live in a 4 story house there are so many stairs...

Anyway, a few months ago when I was looking for easy proten options I got a couple packages of fish from Gordon's. The salmon one was terrible but I was just digging around in the freezer and decided to try the other one, which was a white fish in a lemon butter sauce. I heated it up in the oven and had it with the left over brown rice from my Chinese food yesterday. Really not bad but I'm not getting any more of those fish things. It's kind of a relief to me to have them gone from the freezer because things like that just haunt me. We have a box of 100 petit quiche and we bought for a party last December that are still in there...

Today I have to print out my listings for tomorrow's client and I also have to put together a database of people to send monthly postcards to. That was part of my deal with my managing broker; better split = monthly mailings. She originally said I had to put 200 people on the list but I don't even KNOW 200 people. As a matter of fact I'm not sure I even know 100 people but somehow I have to find them... Off to dig through my Christmas card list!

Just nipping in real quick to say hi - I have been helping Hubby with a building project today, so lots of running around making coffee and trying to make myself useful! I don''t think I will be working out tonight though, I think I have done enough for today!
9.gif

I did bag working out Wednesday when I was so tired, so I woke up early Thursday and did a Firm cardio video with 5 lb. weights. Today I wanted to jog, but it''s pants weather (did I get the expression right?) again. Blah. So I guess I''ll do a Firm weights video instead. I''ll be out of town about 24 hours this weekend for my nephew''s baptism. That will be fun but makes it all the more important I get in my workouts while I can.

I picked up my resized rings today. They fit so much better! So now I''m 5 1/4 instead of 6. I just hope I don''t have to do it again any time soon (I''ve got the plain band in reserve just in case).

Skippy is lazy today. It is a great day outside so maybe I will shorter walk in since I am feeling lazy. It is weird I can't fall asleep at night and then I want to sleep which is bad bad bad!

Rod, are you feeling better; I tried so send my strongest feel better vibes too you. I think hubby and I should have sushi tonight. I haven't been to our favorite sushi place in awhile! The lawn isn't growing as quick as the summer time so it isn't as bad to mow.

DeeJay, I think I am buying the IBM thinkpad. I got on Consumer Reports and that liked the T61 model. Sorry about the knee; I would rest and take it easy. I would be worried about damaging it more I hope you are okay!

Marcy, thanks for the yay! TGIF!

Steph, I put my homemade pizza dough in the healthy recipe thread Mara started. It is super easy and good! Yay for cutting out sodas. I am trying hard to do the no refined sugars and flours like you!!! It is rainy! You must live near Rod. hehee You said Florida, right!

Lorelei, yay for a good workout and building stuff!

PG yay for the firm workouts; those are tough!

Diver, if you see this; thank you for the sweeties compliment!!! I heart you too! You have a beautiful family and I hope to see you on this thread more!!
TGIF all

Hi everyone.
35.gif
I bet you are as happy as I am the weekend is here. The temps were chilly today – with wind chill it felt like the mid to high 20’s today. Aak. I had a cup of soup for supper to help take away the chill.
I did start the day with some excitement; I lost another pound making me minus 131 pounds now.
36.gif
Tomorrow I am going shopping but I am making a list of things I want to look at and buy so I don’t get too many clothes that will soon be too big for me.
Rod, I sure hope you got a good night’s sleep last night.
Steph, yay for eating wisely yesterday. I gave up coke and sure miss it. That is wonderful you and your son have the same birthday; what a wonderful gift to yourself.
DeeJay, that is awful news that your hurt your knee. Take it easy and pamper it for awhile. LOL at digging up post card recipients off your Christmas card list.
Lorelei, running around all day is a lot of work. My husband always prefers I stay out of his way when he’s working on a project. My job is to provide drinks and meals when he’s busy.
Phoenix, have fun at your nephew’s baptism. Yay for getting up early to workout. I’m glad you have your rings back. I always get nervous when they are getting resized.
Skippy, you deserve a lazy day now and then. TGIF is right! Sorry you have a hard time falling asleep. My husband is out like a light when he lays down, I lay there for quite awhile. Rats for us. I hope you like the IBM Thinkpad; they look nice. Is your knee okay these days? I will go get your pizza recipe. That sounds really good.
Well, I am going to get on some warmer clothes. Take care and have a great and healthy weekend.

Happy Friday Everyone!

First, YES.......Rod slept like a baby last night. In fact, I never woke up, even once, to use the restroom. Now, to you ''youngun''s, that might not sound like such an amazing thing. But those of you who have known me and been through my prostate scare, and realizing, unfortunately, that as men age (remember I''m almost 53 - YIKES), we often have to go to the restroom more frequently (see God played some jokes on us men too, ''ya know?!!). So, when I did wake to use the restroom, Charlie said he was getting up and I thought, why on earth is he getting up, it''s like the middle of the night, right? Nope, it was 7:15 AM, and Rod has slept through the entire night! (Sorry if that was TMIF?)

Skippy, I hope you''re not having sleeping problems too. And I know what you mean about wanting to sleep during awake hours, but not being to sleep when you''re supposed to be going to sleep. I think one of the things that threw me off the other night was trying to go to sleep earlier than I usually do. They say you should go to bed at the same time at night and get up at the same time in the morning. I usually do go to bed at about the same time at night, but certainly on the weekends, I tend to sleep a bit later in the morning. Anyway, I hope your sleeping improves quickly.

It was another long day at the office, but at least the week is over. There''s really no end in sight to these long days, so I''ll just have to accept them and be grateful to have a decent job where I''m seem to be appreciated.

Skippy and Steph, tonight''s Sushi was just fantastic as usual. We had our every Friday night "Thank You For Waiting" waitress, Pau Pau and she''s always so happy to see us come in. You''d thiink someone really important had just arrived. It''s almost embarassing, because if she''s at the back of the restaurant, she''ll run up front when we come in, give us a hug and make sure we''re seated in her section. All the while, people who don''t know us are looking and wondering who on earth we are. Hmmmm, maybe they think we''re somebody?? Yeah, that''s it. They think we''re someone. LOL Of course we had our frozen yogurt, followed by Sbucks under the oak tree, only tonight it was actually chilly. And we both had on short sleeve shirts, so summer seems to have finally ended. WOO HOO for that!

DeeJay, I''m sorry you hurt your knee getting off the elliptical. I hope this doesn''t derail you for any time. I hope you find enough names and addresses to send your cards to.

Lorelei, what a nice wife you are, helping hubby and sacrificing your evening workout!! I''m sure he appreciated the help, but more importantly he probably just enjoyed having his ''hot babe'' of a wife by his side all day!!

I may not be able to check in tomorrow. We''ll have our usual daytime activiies, including a good long workout at the gym. But tomorrow night we have a Halloween party and by the time we get home, it will be a bit late. So, I hope everyone has a great Saturday and I''ll let you know how our day was on Sunday!

Sweet dreams everyone!

Morning All,

We''re heading home today, hooray! I''m sure it will be bittersweet to see our neighborhood, about 1/4 of the houses have been destroyed. We still don''t have power, it should be restored by the end of the day but who knows. We''re going to go home and clean up for as long as we have daylight. Hope all of you have a great rest of your weekend.

K

Kimi, my thoughts are with you going home. I am sure it will be heart wrenching to see what has been lost and destroyed. You guys are lucky your home is fine but I know you''ll have a lot of work to do as well. Take care. I''ll be thinking of you.

Rod, I am glad you slept well. I got in a little extra sleep last night and feel great!

Have a great day everyone.

Kimi, have a safe trip and I am feeling the same way as Marcy so I am dittoing her thoughts.

Rod, glad you slept like a baby! Hubby and I had sushi too last night but the naughty sushi restaurant people gave me tempura veggies and I couldn't not have a few bites. Ugh!

Marcy, last nights moon was amazing too! I loved it! Yay for making homemade pizza sometimes. Thanks for asking about my knee; pt helped lots and wearing my insoles. It hurts from time to time but nothing like before; I think getting some weigh off it is helping too! Whoo hooo on your 131 loss! Kudos.

Well today my sweet hubby and a few of his coworkers are building a shed for a daycare as part of "make a difference day"; hubby is such a sweetie. I wish I was good w/a hammer or I would go help the crew but I think I would end up nailing a finger to the wall or something

. I think I will make a nice lean roast w/veggies so when hubby comes home popped out he has something good to eat. I think I will also make Mara's banana bran muffins since my bananas are brown. I probably will get a 4 or 5 mile walk in also. I am reading a book too so that will keep me busy today. Have a great weekend all

Happy Saturday everyone!

I weighed myself this morning and lost 2 lbs this week - wohoo!

Work has been crazy this week so I haven''t had much time to check in but I got caught up on posts this morning.

Kimberly: glad to hear you are headed home and that your house is ok. i hope your friends and neighbors recoved quickly.

skippy: you have turned into a walking fiend....you should think about walking a distance race. you can even walk marathons you know...

steph: sorry to hear about your 5k but you are right, nowadays there are plenty of races to sign up for.

TDM: i live down in cincinnati - i have run chicago though in 2004 i think. i''ve done the others here in cincinnati and columbus, OH. there are quite a few olympic tris in these parts during the warmer months so i plan to work 2 of those into my training b/c the transition concept is completely foreign to me. i also will do the flying pig marathon in the spring (may) - that marathon is so fun, although pretty hilly. what marathon are you doing next?

deejay: take care of that knee girl - if you can tolerate ibruprofen, load up on that.

last night i ate with my friend at the cheesecake factory and got the grilled salmon. it came with asparagus and mashed potatoes and was supposed to have a lemon sauce but since the prep sounded "dangerous" i asked for it without the sauce. it was delicious and pretty darm healthy for the cheesecake factory. fortunately i rarely eat cheesecake and was not in the mood for it at all last nite so i steered clear of dessert calories. today it''s raining but i have a strength workout planned inside so not a big deal - that new routine i started is already starting to show after 5 sessions! so i am very happy about that. tonite is dinner with the FI somewhere.

have a great day!

Where are these walking marathons???? I have done 5 mile races and won a run/walk in my age group for something 2 years ago. I have not seen walking half marathons nor marathons.

Hi! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Still doing well eating. Went to chick-fil-a today, but had a grilled chicken sandwich with a fruit cup and no fries! Then hubby and Andrew got this caramel popcorn that is soooo good and freshly made to have while they were watching football and I didn''t have a bite! Yay for willpower!! I am making a healthier version of lasagna right now with whole wheat noodles, low fat cheese and organic marinara...smells so good! Anyway, hope everyone is well

skippy: most large marathons allow walkers. the walkers often usually start a half hour early and depending on the marathon or half marathon may have a cut off time they have to meet. some are more walker friendly than others - most runners are fine with it as long as you either start early or line up at the back of the pen at the start of the race (you should always line up in order of your minute per mile pace anyway whether you run or walk to avoid being run over by faster folks). some marathons require you to register as a walker and then you are supposed to walk, not run/walk, the whole race. others you just register like everyone else and just go at your pace. every marathon i have done has walkers in it....columbus, chicago, cincinnati. i know the phoenix rock and roll marathon allows it, too. and a lot of large marathons have half marathons that occur at the same time and one the same route (except you only do half) that walkers can chose from. every time i do one it seems like more and more walkers register....

check out the marathonguide.com website....you can search by city or date for marathons close to you and read what people who have done the marathon have to say about it in their reviews. it''s a good site for marathon info.

Could I have less to report? No exercise. Zero. Zilch. No change in weight, except if I overdo the sodium.

Snoozefest as far as my contributions to this thread.

But, Kimi, I''m praying for you and your neighbors. I''m sorry I''ve not really checked in before. My thoughts are with you as you return home to this next challenge (if not a direct challenge, an indirect one.)

Everyone else, I''m on the sidelines rooting for you. I miss my Yoga Booty Ballet. But I am just resigned to waiting until break. I''m up at 4 every day and working until 10 each night. No time or energy. So sad.

Monday is the big ol one year anniversary! Two more weeks and i hit the big 3-5. Ha. I always thought I''d have gone blonde by this point. Definitely thought I''d be more toned!

As you can see, my randomness has not dissipated.

Peace and love

Thank you Tdiddy, you rock. So I did some research thanks to your info and I could have done the Duke City half marathon walk. I am so doing it next year and I will look into races this spring. I am excited!

Hi everyone. I had a great day shopping with a girl friend. We bought lots of clothes. She was so impressed at how much I walk now. The last time we went shopping was at our local mall and I sat down after walking ½ of it. I bought quite a few size M tops – they fit me just right to wear under other tops or sweaters. I bought smaller jeans too. We went in to some of the nicer clothing stores like J Jill, Ann Taylor, Eddie Bauer, Coldwater Creek, etc and I sure found a lot of things I liked but am refraining from buying expensive clothes until later.
Of course since we were out and about we ate nachos, pizza, split a dessert and ate a truffle. It was all quite tasty but I came home and had a lean cuisine for supper. Tomorrow the DH will finally be home. I am making a roast for supper with mashed potatoes and salad. That way we’ll have some roast for sandwiches for work this week.
I picked up my WG diamond dangle earrings from the jeweler this afternoon. They turned out cute. I keep trying to get a picture of them on me but they aren’t turning out too great. Each dangle has 3 diamonds (.06 ct each) in a triangle shape. While at the jewelers I asked if he had any garnets and he had a gorgeous rectangular cushion cut rhodolite; nice raspberry color. I came home and got my ½ ct PC earrings and took them back and put them by the stone and they looked great together so I told him I’d buy the garnet and have him make it in to a WG ring for me. The PC earrings are the ones I didn’t want to upgrade because of the “ewwwww” factor but they look fine in the smaller size for a ring. I always have to get something sparkly with my midterm check.
Skippy, I am glad your knee is doing better. I know my knees sure are better getting lots of weight off of them. I probably walked about 4 to 4 ½ hours today and my knees only really started hurting about the last 30 minutes and my feet are just getting sore now. I am glad you enjoyed the moon; it was pretty. Thanks for the kudos. That is great your husband is helping build a shed. Your supper will be greatly appreciated. Yay for planning on doing a marathon. That is wonderful! OMG about your husband getting hit with a board. I hope he is okay.
Tdiddy, congratulations for loosing 2 pounds. That is wonderful to hear your strength training is working out for you.
Steph, sounds like you are doing great this weekend and eating smart. I made low fat lasagna before my husband left for 2 weeks and had it for 6 meals. It was good but I can’t say I’m hungry for lasagna right now. It was cheap eating for several meals though.
Jas, happy 1st year anniversary Monday. Sorry to hear you are so busy.
Laters.
