Ok, I have to say you ladies are amazing. You have posted so many beautiful options my head is swimming.

Slg - thank you so much for all the links. I really like a couple of the ones you posted, but I am definitely going to look around that site some more.

Magenta - congrats, only a few weeks left! I love those first look pictures, I really hope you can talk your FI into doing them. Anytime someone posts their pics on PS, I always think those are the best since the groom's face is priceless.

Honestly, I'm the one who wants the real wedding dress. This is my one wedding and I just don't want to miss out on the opportunity to wear a beautiful dress. It's actually the only part of the wedding planning I care about, haha.

EB and vc10um - ooooh, I don't know how I haven't heard of Watters before. See, I'm clueless. Thanks for rec!

OUpeargirl - the first dress you posted is stunning, I love the shape and lace on it. If only I could wear straps without looking like I have massive shoulders, gah.

So you have really got me thinking - maybe I shouldn't be limiting myself so much. It's hard to let go of the dress I know would be perfect, but I guess there might be other great options I'm missing out on. I found this dress earlier today and I think it's great, minus the cascading front. :knockout:

Have you ever seen anything in chiffon that is similar? I really like the fitted top half and then the flowy bottom - that's exactly what I need to have.

Unfortunately there aren't any shops near me that carry this line, so that's why I'm looking for other options.

I had the same trouble you are having. Ironically I'm getting Casa 1918. I do believe that Casa will change the lace pattern. Their fees are reasonable. I was told if you liked the shape of one dress, but the pattern of another you could do it. Might be worth checking into! They customize more than any designer I've found.

If you are traveling a lot with this dress, I HIGHLY recommend you stick to your dream of a lace dress or have a plan for sprucing up your dress when you get where you are going. My all lace dress never needed pressing. It was shipped to me, folded in a box, it traveled to bridal portraits and then again to the out of town wedding. Any wrinkles came out just by hanging!

OK- Let me preface what I'm about to post by telling you that I'm a HUGE advocate of trying things on. I've gathered several links in your price range that are the shape you like. Some of these may be pretty, some of them may do NOTHING for you. You haaaaave to try stuff on to get a feel for what you want. I think your best bet is to go into a store, tell them your likes, dislikes, and then let the salesgirl go to town.

All that being said, here are some dresses that might be pretty to you. Also, FYI know the lines that we carry (moderately priced) very well. There may be plenty of other lines out there within your budget.. I just don't know their exact price points. The dresses I'm posting I'm 100% positive fall within your budget, so I am comfortable posting them for you.

http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=J1356 Simpe and elegant
http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?page=4&style=JSM1235 Beading, but it is light and so pretty
http://www.essensedesigns.com/dress-D964 So much more beautiful in real life
http://www.casablancabridal.com/collections/view/18/275 Flower is detachable. Just a pretty satin gown
http://www.casablancabridal.com/collections/view/1/5 This dress but order it with no beading

Ok- I have a million more ideas but my internet is being slow and I need sleep. If you still want help, give all of us PSers some parameters.. Things you love and hate and we'll come up with more options for you.

OUpeargirl - you have been so helpful, I don't know how to thank you.

I think if I give you a little more info about the wedding, you might understand the vision I have. So it will just be me and my FI on a beach in Bora Bora. FI will be wearing khakis and a linen shirt, no shoes. I mention this because one of my biggest fears is me wearing a wedding dress and looking completely out of place in the location and with my FI's attire. That is why I have my heart set on a sheath style lace dress without beading - it's still a wedding dress, but not so completely over the top that I look out of place.

I pretty much want it to be a column shape and form fitting through the chest, waist and hips. I absolutely hate an empire waist, but I do want to tie a sash around my natural waist.

With that said, I guess these would be my parameters:

-at or under 1,000
-sheath shape (or slim a-line, but has to be super slim)
-no beading
-form fitting through the waist
-lace or chiffon (or anything that also looks light and romantic)
-minimal train
-beach appropriate (not too dressy)
-no empire waist

I have seriously scoured the internet for hours in search of the perfect dress and I have yet to think, oh that could be it. My hope is fading. :(

I do have one question for you though - in your experience, can you order a maggie sottero without the beading? I liked the karena royale and it looked really good on me, but the beading was just too much and too heavy.

Welcome to the most frustrating club polkadotprincess!

What you're asking for doesn't sound too complicated, but I could see how it would be hard to find. I'll take a look around later since I'm interested to see if I can find any dresses that have it.

You're welcome! I love to help. I just wish I could help in person :) No, Maggie won't make any changes. They're kind of a PITA when it comes to that.

And yayyyy, Allure posted their Spring 2011 gowns today. Stores will start receiving these in December- when is your wedding?

So I was hoping to post today with good news, but things did not go as planned. I went to a boutique today that was supposed to have dresses in my price range and when I told the woman how much I wanted to spend, she said they didn't have anything that cheap. Oh well, a wasted trip I thought.

However, she said that I might try a bridesmaid boutique nearby that also had a few destination dresses. I went over there and while they didn't have anything that fit what I was looking for, the owner showed me a picture of a dress that could work. This is the dress:

http://www.dessy.com/dresses/wedding/1016/

It's super cheap and all I would have to do is add a sweetheart neckline and a sash. If I don't find anything at a Priscilla sample sale tomorrow, I'm gonna order the sample I think.

Thanks for all the options OUpeargirl, but nothing really jumped out at me. I think I'm just too boring of a bride for your taste!
