Wedding day earrings

Hello everyone!

I'm hoping that you all can give me some input on some wedding day jewelry. I'm leaning towards earrings as I never wear necklaces and have a limited budget (<$500). I'm at a total loss of wear to start looking! I also don't normally wear earrings so am undecided on hanging (is that what they're even called???) vs studs. :wall:

Here's my dress (not on me...unfortunately I'm not a model)

img_5525_1.jpg

I'll be wearing my hair half up, half down with a cathedral length veil.

Thanks in advance!!

Do you think you would wear them again? If not, is there anyone you can borrow earrings from? I wore pearls on my wedding day (freaking out DH's grandmother who always believed "pearls bring tears")

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

I'm not sure how much I love pearls and I probably would not wear those again. I have a pair of tiny diamond studs (about 1/3 ctw)- do you think those would be good for our wedding day?

This is the hair piece I am thinking about (half up/half down)

What do you think about these?

The only issue is that my color scheme is cranberry, green and gold so I"m not sure if it all clashes.

ETA: what about these? https://www.tacori.com/se10512

Thanks!

I think the diamond studs will get lost. Someone else posted pearl and blue sapphire earrings (long time ago) which were really pretty and satisfied something new and blue tradition. I think it was sapphire studs with ffp pearl drops.

I think the Blue Nile earrings you listed are lovely, but more of a daily wear item than wedding as they may get a little lost in the whole look. I would probably go costume jewelry as someone else mentioned.

If you're not a big earring person, I probably wouldn't spend too much of them, especially since you don't think you'll wear them again.

I got these for my wedding from Blue Nile:

I have worn them again once or twice but they're certainly not something I'd reach for often. I remember debating about whether I wanted to spend a bit more on something with diamonds- in the end, I'm glad I went with the cheaper option. Although I love the style, it's just not something I would wear often enough to be worth it (to me).

I also don't know if you're set on having 'something blue' for your earrings, but if you're worried about colours clashing, then I would probably go with something fairly neutral like pearls or just something sparkly?

Hi sherryberrybear,

You mentioned that you do have diamond studs already?

Have you considered halo-style earring jackets for them. The jackets give you that extra size and sparkle and you can wear them after the wedding if you choose.

Congratulations on your big day!

That's what I was just thinking...it will give your smaller studs some oomph for that special day and will still be very wearable
for later on.

ID Jewelry has done quite a few for Pricescopers but not sure how much the cost would be (they've always stated they were reasonable
but that may still be too much).

I think some do 3 pointers and others have done 5 pointers. I'll go find a thread to show you...

Here are the 3ptrs (for smaller stones I would do these)

5pts...probably too much with small studs but depends on the look you're after

Just saw these cute little briolette earrings on Pre-loved forum...

You could have the hanging part removed after the wedding and just use the flowered part as earrings to get more wear out of them.

First of all, lovely dress! Ethereal and romantic and I think the earrings tyty linked would be perfect with your dress and also serve as your something blue. So pretty. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Thanks for the replies! I LOVE the idea of getting some jackets to go with my studs. I got them several years ago, before I discovered PS, and just hope the quality isn't too terrible :?

Re the blue topaz earrings- my bridesmaids will be in cranberry/Cabernet and the colors are moody red, green and gold. Will silver colored blue earrings fit in? Along the same threat would white gold studs +jackets work?

You are all probably right that I shouldn't be spending a great deal of money on something and then forcing myself to wear them again. While I love costume jewelry, I'm allergic to non-gold/platinum (sometimes even sterling silver which is a huge pain since it's unpredictable). I'll get in touch with ID jewelry and see what they can do!

Thanks everyone for the comments on the dress. It's been a couple of months since I bought it and I haven't seen it in my size yet...doubt and uncertainty have been creeping in

Or these? http://diamondbistro.com/category/211/Earrings/listings/49100/reduced-WG-Bezel-8mm-Moissanite-Stud-Earrings.html

They're more clear/colorless

OP
I bought these for my daughter who has diamond studs like you, she loves them:

ps. And it won't break your bank.

Any Ear shots of these WD? I'd love to see them.

I also thought of these which would be very wearable later (they are small but pack quite a punch due to the well cut stones)...plan
to get a pair for myself in the future...

Here they are in white gold

Of the last two you posted...I kind of like these better. They seem to have a little more personality. I just hate for you to spend
a lot on costume jewelry unless you are going to get a lot more wear out of them. I guess these arent exactly costume though.

You might also do a Wtb (Wanted to buy) thread on the Pre-loved forum to see if anyone has the IDJ 3 or 5 ptr jackets that
they want to sell. I know IDJ has sold quite a few to Pricescopers and somebody might not be getting as much wear out of
theirs as they though.

Great suggestion tyty- will post an ad.

WD- I LOVE how these look! I would love to see some ear shots as well!

Edited for spelling

Sorry for side way picture

Pretty...definitely makes them stand out more!

Also available in WG, was not at time of purchase.

Your existing studs are .3 EACH or TOTAL of the two?
.15 studs might get swallowed up by jackets IMHO.

They're 0.3ctw - 0.15ct each. I agree that they might get swallowed by the BGD jackets although they are beautiful. I've reached out to IDJ to see what they can do within my budget!

Any other recommendations are welcome. Thanks everyone :)

FYI, the studs I bought my daughter for above picture are .31 each

Just wanted to give everyone an update! After trying on lots and lots of studs, I just couldn't find anything that felt "special" enough to me. I finally tried on some of my mom's earrings (which I thought would be way too big/showy) and ended up loving this morganite/rose gold pair! Best of all, this can be my something borrowed too! Sorry for the sideways picture

Those look beautiful on you sherryberry! Perfect for a wedding day...just the right amount of bling to compliment your dress!

Happy Wedding day!!!

Gorgeous! Congratulations and all the best on your upcoming wedding and marriage!!!

So happy you found your wedding day earrings!! They are beautiful! :appl:

Those are gorgeous! I love that they will be your "something borrowed," too. For my wedding, I borrowed a ring from my mom which contained her mother's birthstone, so I felt that I had both my deceased grandmother and my mom with me.
