We are thinking to purchase a shared-prong or channel wedding band.

1) Should the wedding band be the same width as the engagement ring?

2) Is 2mm (or up to 2.3mm) too thin for a shared-prong or channel wedding band.

Thanks in advance!

Here is an example of a channel diamond band

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the shared prong eternity band! As far as I know from common sense the size of the diamonds in shared prongs should determine the width of the band (also true to some extent in channel set bands). So, if you choose smaller diamonds you should be fine!

Isn't it beautiful. We cannot afford the posted ring...it is a tiffany!

There are many past threads about wedding bands. Look up "diamond band". You will see some examples of what people have chosen. It all depends on your style. Do you want the diamonds to go all the way around the ring?
Some people have said that shared prong eternity bands are "uncomfortable".
And others don't agree. There are many good examples here and on the web.
"You must choose wisely."

Thanks Nan.

So...is it true that the wedding band should be the same width as the engagement ring?

Thanks

Any other comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I think it's all personal preference.

In your other thread I think many already said 2mm is not too thin. That was for an e-ring but it also applies to the wedding band.

Go with what looks good on *your* hand. Personally, I like a thin band, 1.9mm - 2mm, for my e-ring and wedding band. I don't think there's a rule on whether or not the wedding band should be the same width as the e-ring, but if you're into symmetry then the same width may appeal to you more.

There's no right or wrong answer, go with what you like!
