Is there some rule of thumb to follow when picking out a wedding band.?
Like if your engagmemet ring is 2cts how big should the diamond wedding band be?

I think it''s all just a matter of personal taste. Is this for you or are you asking what should you get for your future wife? I personally wanted a diamond wedding band. My original ering was only .50cttw and my wedding band is a 5 stone diamond band in platinum at .50ct. It''s funny cause when I upgraded my ering and got a stone I was really blown away with, part of me wishes I would of just picked a plain band to not detract from the new stone! So I would just ask yourself, or your fiancee what they would like.

Now if you already know what style you like, like say for instance an eternity band, and your wondering what carat weight would look good aside your 2ct i''m not sure! I''m sure if you mention the styles your interested in you can get all kinds of responses of PS''rs with photos who might have the same thing. If not i''d say get a couple styles in mind and go to a local store and try them out. Thats what I did. When I found the band I liked they had 3 different carat weights. 1/4 ct, 1/2ct, and 1ct. I just tried each on and picked from what I thought looked best!

Good Luck!

Awww thats nice! Are you picking out the band for her yourself? My friends did that! It was a surprise on their wedding day :) Do you know what style she might like? If you browse through the vendors on here you can get some good ideas of the different styles out there. What about the ering? Does it have a particualr style with it? Like mine has a round stone in the center but baugettes on eithier side.....so I got a 5 stone that alternated between round and baugettes. A lot of people with an antique style ring will get that kind of band, ect ect. And of course the big question, do you have a certain budget here?

I thought I had read somewhere (or maybe it was a Lazare Kaplan rep that told me) that for eternity bands, try to match the weight of the diamond. So for a 2 ct diamond, try to get a 2 ctw eternity. I actually used this advice to get my fiancee''s eternity and it worked out pretty good. But whatever looks good to you, go for it.

Oh hey I think I see your ladys ring! The halo? With the pave? and the radiant diamond? OMG it''s gorgeous!!! And 3k for that stone?? Really??!! Thats great!

Looking at the ering you got I personally love 2 different styles with it. Eithier a very thin delicate pave band. A LOT of ladies on here with halo''s have those.....browse through the show me the ring section, in fact I think there is a whole thread for ladies with halo''s and the thin pave band looks fab. Oh also a few have opted for antique style bands, also in pave. Somewhat like the wedding band featured on this thread:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/finally-the-right-band.49038/

and it has looked good. Even just an eternity band in rounds or something. I personally always think when you have such an impressive and busy ering delicate is best for the wedding band. I would say at the most 1ct but a lot of the delicate pave bands i''ve seen have to be less than 1ct!

might want to get her a plain metal band at the same time, to get them all blessed (or whatever) to wear when doing heavy chores or traveling.

Stinger, it totally depends on the siize and style of the engagement ring. I am getting a 1.63 diamond (for anniversary) and I tried on a 7 stone band with 8 point diamonds and that was as large as I thought looked good with my diamond. So that was .56 and a full circle probably would be something like 1.25. If you do have a pave type e-ring setting, then I like the 2-2.5mm pave bands with those. But truthfully, I believe very much that the girl should go try on all kinds of bands WITH the e-ring to see what works best. I am not one that really sees a point in the wedding ring being a surprise.

oh I agree. If you''re surprising her with the e-ring, I''d let her be involved in the wedding band selection since these are the rings SHE will be wearing for a long time. I agree with the gals who said a pave band.

I would just have a plain classic wedding band. Wedding band is something that you wear days in and days out all your life. You want it to be plain and simple so that it doesn''t overpower the engagement ring. You also want it simple because fancy designs are dated and wedding band is not something you want to upgrade in the future. You want it plain because you will do housework with it and not worry of that pave diamonds falling out of the more delicate setting.

Size is important. Make sure it fits comfortably and not too tight.

Yes thats the one. It should be ready this week! Originally, I wanted a band that would sit flush with the setting but that would have to be custom made. I dont have the time to wait for that. And I also dont want it to overshadow the ering just compliment it.

Here are my pics so far to go with this e-ring:
1. 18k White Gold Channel-Set Diamond Band (1/2 ct. tw.)
2. 18K White Gold Pavé-Set Diamond Band (1/5 ct. tw.)
3. 18k White Gold Pavé Diamond Eternity Band (1/2 ct. tw.)-like this
4. 18K White Gold Two-Row Pavé Band (1/2 ct. tw.)-too thick?
5 .18k White Gold Pavé-Set Diamond Eternity Band (1 1/4 ct. tw.)-not sure if this one is "too much" (not money- bling!)

One question, notice how the metals are a different color than the e-ring? Is that just the picture differences (websites)? I think I like the thinner wedding band idea (more like #4) than thicker like #5. However, it seems to me that numbers 1 and 2 "match" the ring more?? - than number 3?

hey stinger - hold up a minute
1.gif

the rings you have picked out wont fit under or next to the engagement ring. the ring is huge and there won''t be enough finger room.

consider having custom bands done? or consider having her wear her engagement ring on one hand and the sizeable wedding ring on another?

Personally, I''d let her pick it out with you. That was one of the most romantic things. Hubby surprised me with the e-ring and then we went together shopping for our bands. Thank god, because he chose something I never would have chosen for him. My ring also required something unusal as it was a marquise and I tried on dozens of bands before I found the one. Other than that, number 3 looks nice, but it''s too hard to tell without trying them on in person. I just spent several weeks looking for a new band to go with my upgrade and ended up with something that wasn''t even on my original list.Good luck in whatever you decide.

I see what Ladykemma is saying, halo''s sometimes have a hard time fitting bands. Looks like yours isn''t all THAT bad as far as how far down it dips. I don''t think your gonna get that super flushed look unless you get a custom band or maybe a curved band? But I still think it would look ok without being perfectly flush fit. I''ve seen a lot of people with halo style engagement rings on here that have wedding bands that don''t sit perfectly flush and it looks really good too. I suppose it''s all just personal preference. Have any idea what she might like? Are you on a budget with this? Anything custom is probably going to be pretty pricey.

As far as my opinion on the ones you''ve listed I like 2 and 3 the best. Especially 3. I think 5 is absolutly stunning, but if it were me I don''t know if I would want to overpower such a gorgeous engagement ring.

The engagement ring is beautiful!!!
I think you NEED to have her try on various wedding rings next to the engagement ring to see what looks best and what aligns best. It is very difficult to tell from a picture. If you really want to surprise her, maybe order a few (non custom, returnable) and then let her try them on and decide together.

ETA saw your prev post that it is from Scaasi - maybe best to have them make the custom band to match!

Everything is beautiful, but of the options you''ve listed, I gravitate towards #3 as my fav, or perhaps #2...my personal preference, options 4 and 5 when picturing them with the e-ring, are a little too ''Vegas'' for my taste.

Congratulations!
