Wedding Band, Opinions Please - Calling DiamondSeeker!

Hi all,

I posted back in the summer. My fiancee gave me a beautiful 2.26 solitaire, in the whiteflash sleekline legato setting. I love my ring, but was unsure of what kind of wedding band to pair it with. After seeing diamondseeker's pics from her shopping trip to Tiffanys, where she was nice enough to post pictures of various rings, I finally decided on the Tiffany's .56 shared prong setting wedding band. It looked gorgeous, and I also wanted something with a low profile so that it would not scrap against the prongs of my ering.

Well, I just received it this Sunday (we live in London and my fiancee went to NY for business and picked this up along the way), and while I really really like it, I'm not certain that I am in love with it. Maybe I just have to get used to wearing two rings and the way that that looks? I love my engagement ring and I love my Tiffanys wedding band as well, but just not sure that I love the two of them together as a set.

I am attaching a pic (sorry for the bad quality). I feel that while both rings are lovely, the wedding band is slightly wider than the ering, so that the diamonds jut out just a teeny bit on the side. Is this a big deal? I know that I tend to be overly paranoid about things, and most people wouldn't even notice this. Because the sleekline legato setting tapers in slightly towards the stone, there is also the slightest of gaps between where the ering tapers in and the wedding band. I love the look of a tapered band, but maybe all tapered bands have a slight gap when paired with a wedding band?

Anyways, I had the Tiffany's wedding band engraved, so I don't think I can even return it even if I wanted to, but I wanted to get everyone's honest opinions. Should I leave the set as is, which I really really like but don't quite love yet (although the look of two rings together might just have to grow on me), or should I do something such as change the setting of my ering so that it matches up a bit more with the wedding band?

Any advice would be great, thanks!

Totally understand your "dilemma"!

First of all, I think your wedding band is beautiful and I wouldn't change it at all! I personally like the mismatch kind of look, but at the same time, I understand how the little "gap" where your ering tapers in kind of bothers you. How would you feel about modifying the setting of your ering to kind of match your wedding band a bit more? However, the ering setting is also a classic design so if you change it, would you still like it in the long run?

Decisions decisions!

I don't really know if it will be worth changing the ering setting just to match the wedding band a tad more!! Plus, we live in London, I don't know many reputable jewelers here, whereas if I were in the US, I could send back to Whiteflash, GOG, etc, and feel comfortable that they'd do a good job...

I think they look beautiful together! I wouldn't change a thing but would love to see a few more pictures!

Your set is just gorgeous IMO!

Hi!!! Yes, when an e-ring tapers in at the head, there is going to be a little gap. So that is perfectly normal and not a bad thing at all! I actually prefer a little gap so that the two rings don't look like one wide ring!

I think the band is great with your e-ring! But there are many styles that would look good with your classic e-ring! My solution is to have more than one band (eventually) so you can alternate them! I do think since you had this one engraved that you probably can't return it, but I honestly think it looks beautiful with your gorgeous e-ring! You probably know that I usually wear the Tiffany Legacy band with mine but I also have a 7 stone Memoire band. It is good to have a change now and then! I hope you'll be happy with it, though!!!

I think it looks beautiful with your ering. The slight gap isn't very noticeable, and I actually like the look of a little space in-between. I think your set is gorgeous!

This set is absolutely beautiful! Don't change a thing!
Do get a small spacer to stop the girdles of your w-ring eating the prongs of your e-ring. Maybe that would fill the gap for you at the same time? You could get one custom made with a notch to match your e-ring like this:

Jane, she definitely needs to be sure there is no rubbing against her e-ring prongs as you said. But the Tiffany rings I tried on did not need spacers because they were set so low! That is one of the big advantages of Tiffany and Memoire.

Thanks everyone, for your replies!

Diamond, I actually fell in love with the band after seeing your modeling shots of it!

I don't mind the slight gap between the rings too much, but do you notice how the width of the band is slighter thicker than my engagement ring? (ie, the wedding band has a slighter longer width where the diamonds protrude to the side just the tinist bit compared to the ering)

I really didn't try on many wedding bands, so well, is this quite normal?! And I really like the look of the set so far, I think I'm just not used to wearing 2 rings together!

I don't think the different widths look bad, I really like it actually! And I don't notice the gap very much. I also second the idea of getting more stackers down the road to switch it up. Have you been wearing your ering with another band previously?

I think it's gorgeous!

Thanks everyone, for your opinons.

Nope, I had just been wearing my engaement ring all by her lonesome self, so now getting used to wearing 2 rings, and who knows, maybe more in the future! :naughty:

I know what you mean and I assume that must be because the shank of the Tiffany ring may be slightly thicker (higher)
than the e-ring. I have seen really bad examples of this on this forum, but I honestly did not even notice that in your pictures. I think it is too slight to worry about, and Tiffany makes the lowest diamond bands, so you probably couldn't do any better without changing the e-ring.
