I had my heart set on a custom designed abdn ring that is close to 6 mm and have been planning for months about it. Yesterday I was at the mall and tried on a 6 mm w/ my e-ring and my fingers are way too short to pull this off. My fiance and the sales person hated it and said it makes my finger look very stumpy. My fingers are wider at the bottom than my knuckle and I wear a large ring size of 10. Lovely

FI and I checked out other bands and it looks like 3 mm is going to be as big as I want to go. Problem is I want something very unique and everything I''m seeing in this size is the normal channel set or eternity bands. Nothing has said "wow" to me. It''s not possible to have the original band taken from 6 mm to 3mm, the design won''t allow for that as it needs much more metal since the diamonds go diagonal.

At this point I''m ready to just say forget it and get a plain band and be done with it. We''re getting married in less than 6 weeks. I know I can just get a plain band for the ceremony and decide on a diamond one later but then there''s the issue of what metal. My e-ring is platinum and I had planned on a palladium plain band I could wear at the ceremony and then when we go fishing and stuff. I don''t want to buy a plain platinum band only to buy a platinum diamond band later, I won''t be stacking them and price wise it''s a bit much for us.

So what do I do? Stick w/ the palladium band for the cermony and HOPE I find a diamond band I like 3 mm or just get a plain platinum 3 mm band and live with that? I''m soooooo frustrated right now.

What is an abdn ring? I might be able to make some suggestions but it would help me if I knew what you like but
isnt working for you.

Get the ring you want and wear the e-ring with the fishing ring on occasion and as a RHR the rest of the time?

In terms of thin bands with personality, my mind automatically goes to Alex Sepkus, but I have no idea if that''s where your style is at: could you post a link to the original ring you love, so we can make more informed suggestions?

What about some of the bands that Sally makes on Etsy? (HeartofWaterJewels)

Here are a few:

I''m not exactly sure what kind of band you were originally looking for, so sorry if these are totally not your style!

These are thicker, but I asked Sally about the 2nd one and she said she could possibly make it in 3mm (just the center design).

Maybe you should just go to a jeweler and send have a custom wedding band made. There''s places where you can also just send them your specifications and a picture and they will then make it for you.

ditto. Can you please both explain what is an abdn ring and also provide a description or a picture of the one you loved?

There are tonnes of different things you can do with 3mm, I'm sure we can make some suggestions once we know your tastes
Don't be frustrated, it's not that bad

Thank you so much arjunajane for posting my ring :) So that's it, 2 mm knife edge type.

"abdn" was supposed to be band, dealing with an injured finger so I'm surprised that the only typo. LOL. So I need something in platinum, no larger than 3 mm. I don't want an eternity band but 3/4 one would be fine. I'm not a fan of pave either but love bezels and very unique designs.

We realized last night that we're actually getting married in 5 weeks now, OMG. Feels like time is flying and that there's not enough of it. I need to make a decision by mid week since that's when I need to order the plain band for the ceremony.

Here's a pic of a ring similar to the one I had designed originally that's not going to work. The only difference is that I wanted the stones bezel set across. I don't want to post the actual one since I'm not sure the designer would be OK with that.

Everyone is such a HUGE help here, thank you so much!!!

Since you are in such a time crunch, why not buy a simple inexpensive RHR for the ceremony and then search for your dream band when time is not of the essence?

I''m already doing this since in Jewish ceremonies you can''t get married w/ a band w/ holes in it. Just don''t know what to do after the wedding for a diamond band. Not sure what will look right.
