Hi all:

I am having a tough time making a decision regarding my wedding band... And we are getting married in 2 months! So would appreciate your advice, please. :)

Option 1) Get a straight eternity band that I absolutely love on its own, but do not love paired with my engagement ring (it doesn't sit flush and really only takes away from the ER when paired with it). This option would mean I would wear my wedding band on my right hand and switch it to my left when I don't wear my ER...

Or

Option 2) Get this amazing custom curved band that looks like it was made for my ER!! Downside: can't be worn by itself... But why would I ever not wear my ER?

Here are two pictures of the custom band (sorry for the lousy quality! taken with camera phone in the store...) Also, FYI, they would make it custom, so it would fit perfectly against my ring...

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!

get 2 of the bands, one for the top of the ring and one for the bottom. I had my ering made specifically so I could slide 2- 1 carat bands in there, one on the top and one on the bottom... I love it bc I can wear it separate or together and it looks nice either way, so I say get 2 of the ones that look like they were made for the ring. :naughty:

I would get a straight wedding band and wear it on days you don't wear the ER. Trust me, when you have kids, there will be days you don't want to wear your pave ring. I don't like curved bands myself and don't like 2 bands either, both detract.

Actually, have you tried a very thin pave band with your ring? The gap might not bother you with a more subtle band.

I agree, there will be days that you won't want to wear the e-ring.

MY solution is to get the curved wedding band now... and get a straight one for situations like that for the 1 yr anniversary! :naughty: :naughty:

I thought I disliked curved bands too... Until I saw and fell in love with how this one fit against my ring!! I like Bean's idea of curved band now and a straight eternity for my 1 year anniversary. Or... perhaps for a "push present" so I can have the option of wearing band-only once we have kids...

LFVdoll, what happened to the wedding ring you found a while ago to wear on your right hand?? I remember LOVING that one! From the pics, I think I really like the curved band, but what about getting that AND a plain gold or platinum band for times when you don't want to wear diamonds? I always recommend that bc it was the best thing I did! Times when you don't want to wear your ering will also probably be times that you don't want to wear a diamond wedding band. I love having a plain band to wear in those situations. A plain band will also last a lifetime, and stay current no matter how many times you upgrade your ering or eternity bands, etc. Hope that helps!

Hi EHR! Good memory! :) That band ended up being a little outside of our budget for the wedding band... So it was back to the drawing board. I love your idea of a plain band... And I have always wanted a plain rose gold band. Maybe that will be the happy medium... Get the curved and a rose gold plain band...

I love the curved band with your ring. I think you should have both a plain band and a curved band for your ceremony (then both are your "wedding" bands) and that way you will have a plain band -- which you will want, from my experience -- to wear when you don't want to wear diamonds; a curved band that shows off your beautiful e-ring. Then, later, for an anniversary or on the birth of a child, you could get an eternity band if you wanted. I'm just not sure how much you'd wear the eternity on its own now.

I second everything that Portree said! Get a plain band and a curved diamond band now, and then a lovely eternity for either an anniversary or a push present.

I did love that glorious wide diamond band from Nordstrom. Boo-hoo!! but I know you were going to wear it on your right hand, so that wouldn't have been suitable as your actual wedding band anyway. But there are always anniversaries! and there's nothing wrong with having a gorgeous RHR.

I'm going to second EHR and say go for the curved diamond band and a plain band. That's what we did and I love the option of being able to wear just a plain band (especially when traveling, swimming, running, etc.) and not worrying about diamonds falling out! Plus stacking options!

I really like how the curved band goes with your beautiful ring. It looks perfect together. Usually, I am not a big fan of the
curved band for exactly your reasons, that you can't wear it alone.

I have always worn my e-ring all the time. Even when I had babies, I put it on in the morning and took it off when I went to bed.
It was much simpler than what I wear now or that gorgeous ring of yours. I really like a blingy look on my hand, so I vote for the
curved band now, and a beautiful eternity for an anniversary! I mean, you do need both!

I loved your Nordstrom band too, so I think you need to get that one as well for an anni.

Considering I have a curved wedding band I may be biased, but I am going to vote get a curved band now and a plain/diamond band later. Whenever I don't wear my e-ring and wedding band I have a plain band (usually only when I play hockey). Plus I picked up the plain band for cheap on ebay so it was really no big deal.
I also thought I wanted the plain band in time for the ceremony, but I find that it does not really matter what ring I wear on that finger, I am really of the thought that any ring worn on your left ring finger, especially if it is a band symbolizes marriage (or at the very least that you are "taken" )

HTH :))

Check to make sure the curved band will not spin on you and misalign with the basket of your e-ring.

I like the look of curved bands, had one of my own as well. I hated it. I had problems with it spinning and it never stayed lined up with my ering. I was not willing to solder it to my ering so I sold it. Just something to think about. Your ering is so gorgeous on its own.

Yes, spinning can be a problem. That's why the best curved bands sit higher (taller) off the finger and actually "cup" the side of the gallery. If the ring is too flat it will slide around under your e-ring and spin on your finger. When I talked to Wink about the possibility of designing a curved band for my halo, the photos he sent me of the matching curved band showed a ring that sits up quite high off my finger, high enough that the curved band is designed to match the gallery of my ring -- so it is not flat at all, much more architectural.

I believe risingsun's custom designed wedding ring for her HOF e-ring is designed to minimize spinning. risingsun? Are you out there and can comment, please?

Am I remembering incorrectly that you got a wide stand-alone diamond band to wear as your WB on your right hand? From Nordstrom's? Maybe it wasn't you.

I am a fan of the gap, so I vote for for the straight eternity hand. However, you say you don't like the gap so I think going for the curved band now and a straight eternity band later when you have kids and may be less likely to wear your engagement ring/wedding band combo would be a nice idea.

Get what pleases you now.

I never wear my wedding ring alone. If I am wearing jewelery, I am wearing my ering and wedding band. I say go with the curved band!! :appl:

It sounds like you love the curved band...and you should! It looks great from what I can tell in the picture. Get a straight band for your one-year anniversary. :appl:

Doll seeing your ring makes me want to get my solitaire halo-ed! Also.....it looks bigger than before!!! I love the idea of a plain band and a curved band with bling! 2 months to go???? You must be super super excited!!!

Yes, this!! I really like Portree's suggestion. You'll have the best of both worlds. That curved band looks absolutely perfect with your ering. My gosh, it's a perfect match! And I like the idea of wearing a wband and ering on the same finger. But having a plain band to wear will be a nice option to have.

And, btw, your ering still makes my heart beat just a bit faster!

Junebug, you are so sweet!! Thank you for your support and kind words!!! I do love the curved wedding band with my ER. The second I put it on, it felt like it was meant to be. =)

Sparkle, I love a blingy look too... We are so on the same page! I've already put the idea of the Nordstrom band on his radar for an anniversary!! :wink2:

Okay this is the only area of concern for me - spinning. When I tried it on at the store, it seemed fine... But I only had it on for 30 or so minutes. I had no spinning though. The reason I like it so much is because it is low enough to still show the gallery of my ring - where there are diamonds and a pretty design. The jeweler suggested soldering the rings together. I am not open to this option becuase I love the detail on both sides of my engagement ring - there are diamonds there for cryign out loud! The idea of soldering a side with diamonds seems silly to me... But maybe I'm being foolish??

EHR, love your idea here. go for the curved diamond band you love w/your e-ring & get a plain rose gold band for those "less blingy" days. and i personally, wouldn't solder those two together either.

LFVdoll- I also don't think soldering those together would be good. Have you made a decision yet? How exciting that your big day is coming up! I got married on 10/09/09... Anyway, congrats and let us know what you went with! :))
