Hi all,

My engagement ring is currently being made and is a 1.20ct E VS2 emerald cut in a simple solitaire cathedral setting with a 3mm flattish half-round band (platinum).

I''d always thought I''d wear a plain platinum wedder (2mm? 3mm?) with it, but have been toying with some other options lately.

I was wondering whether a very fine, split diamond wedder might work? I am most worried about diamond bands being too blingy and taking away from my step-cut solitaire. I thought maybe one of these Leon Mege string micropave bands on either side might not be too overwhelming, but I''m not sure. With my solitaire setting they would sit flush up to the band and I thought they might "frame" the 3mm width nicely.

Does anyone have one/two/many of these LMs? Do they look extremely bright/sparkly?

Any other ideas?

Oooh you got the diamond? Yay!!

Who did you decide on to have it set? Did you end up going with holloway diamonds?

(sorry to threadjack)

Yes, we bought the diamond and it is 1000000000 times better than we had imagined! It is being set at HD at the moment, apparently will be ready at the end of the month.

Any advice on the band/s? ;)

I LOVE those bands of Leon''s.

Just me, I have always loved the way that pave offsets step cut diamonds.

Those bands are stunning and the price is really good considering what they are! I am a little surprised.

One thing to take into consideration is the height of the bands off the finger. Those look very low profile, under 2m for sure, and for me I really like the heights of my rings to match up. Do you know the height of the solitaire you are having made? I imagine that Leon could slightly customize those bands to match the height if it mattered to you...

that is a great ring. Can''t wait to see your e-ring!!!!

Ditto dreamer re the heights, I don''t mind width differences, but heights differences are what bother me. If you don''t mind, or if they are the same, then I think that band would be lovely!!!!

I think that would be a perfect set! I can''t wait to see it!!

I am not sure how thick my engagement ring band is - I know it''s a fairly flat half-round as far as half-rounds go.

This may sound like a silly question, but the band is comfort fit - so in matching the height of the eternity and the engagement ring bands, do I go with the total thickness of the e-ring band in the centre and INCLUDE the convexity of the comfort fit curve? Or do I exclude the convexity on the underside and go with the maximal height of the band, using the outer edge as "zero"?

Does that make sense?

The other idea I was thinking about was another split eternity one but with square or rectangular French cuts instead. I know LM makes a 2mm channel-set one - does anyone know of any others similar (or thinner)?

Final question: durability. Are those LM bands ok to wear as "everyday" bands?

(I have this feeling that I''m going to end up with the tiny eternity bands AND a plain platinum band to wear instead to work!)

My FI recently bought me a micropave eternity band as a wedding band. We were going to go through Leon to get one or two because he made the setting for my e-ring. After looking at the thickness of my e-ring band (1.8mm) and how delicate it was already, having a Leon band that was 1.4mm seemed too delicate for me. So, we ordered a 1.8mm eternity band from JBEG and Singlestone and even still, when we received the band I was shocked at thin it really is! However, I do have to say the durability seems to be very strong (I haven't worn it yet for more than 5 minutes), but I would suggest trying on some widths first - even with a 1.8mm, I would love to have a 2nd for the other side of my e-ring but it's skinny.

The band I have is very comfortable and doesn't "poke" my fingers located on either side. The height is a perfect fit with my semi-cathedral e-ring band, which is something I was initially concerned with. I would definitely check on the height of your e-ring and see if Leon could get close to matching it if that's what you want. I do have to mention though that I am going to need a spacer due to the eternity diamonds hitting the basket of my e-ring - be careful of that. There is a small gap between my e-ring and the band, but personally, I love that.

I hope this helps you. Take Care.

What about this beauty......

or this 5 stone EC band

I love that first EC eternity Po! I don''t like the 2nd one, I think the bar setting looks too angular but I''ve always loved that first one.

However, when I''ve tried on EC solitaire rings with wedders, I''ve always felt that anything with larger diamonds takes away from my solitaire - with yours I think it''s different because the setting of your solitaire is so unusual and stands out for that reason! Also, I have also extracted an agreement (or at least, a not DISagreement!) from my partner that if I''m very good, I''ll get the Canturi Cubism band as my RH eternity ring (wish I could fast forward time!)! But I am getting ahead of myself...

I only thought of the extra-thin eternities as a split wedder because when we were looking at engagement rings, I tried on a very thick ring with an asscher in a semi-tension setting, and the guy in Canturi (where we were) brought out these teeny tiny eternities - I wondered what in the world he was thinking but then when I put them on he was absolutely right - they just "framed" the thick band and enhanced the look of the central ring, rather than taking much attention of their own!

Maybe the moral of the story is that I''m going to have to wait until I get the engagement ring and then try lots of things on.

(It is so nice and so easy to think about the possibilities though!)

Here''s another idea - Singlestone French cut channel-set band...

As far as slightly bigger eternity bands go, the French cuts look the most acceptable to my eye so far - not too "steppy", not too sparkly, refined, long lines. That said, my e-ring is not very antiquey, although it is classic. Would this look too ye olde worlde next to my e-ring?

Could it be done sans milgrain?

What are Singlestone prices like?

Wow pancake, I LOVE that other band you just posted. But then, I like olde worldey stuff, and you''re right, that ring would definitely bring a more vintage feel.

Much like the others above, I think the LM band would be lovely. Having a pave band would definitely make the overall effect more blingy, but I wouldn''t think at the expense of your e-ring.

I think the string ones for sale are thinner than his popular band, style 201. They are only 1.2 mm, less than the width of a dime it says on the site! I have tried on the antique calibre band and that was really thin and it is 1.4mm, which I think is more in line with the width of style 201 of his. I am definitely curious about the string bands though!

Yeah - I love the idea of something that''s 1.2mm wide but I think it would scare me - I work a lot with kids and I think the durability would be an issue.

At the moment this LM French cut eternity is winning out - not sure if I can stretch the budget to two of them, but I think that the French cuts would compliment the EC better, and the channel set would be more secure. Plus it''s still only 1.4mm! Not sure if I would milgrain or not.

I have never stumbled across singlestone until now, wow there stuff is beautiful.

I tried on this exact band and I just want to let you know that since the diamonds are set upside down, the band is a little rough feeling. I just don''t want you to buy it without knowing that!

Any pave band will have wearability issues certainly. Do you have a local jeweler you trust to do repairs? If not, I might stick with channel set...

I would measure the height including the interiour convex because it will only add fractions of mm.

Thanks for the tip, LARadiant! I love the textured look and hadn''t really thought about the feel on the finger but I wear some fairly chunky and textured rings so I think it would be ok. As long as it''s not painful-"textured"!

Dreamer_Dachsie - that is a really good point. I have no idea who I would take it to for repairs, there are only a few specialist jewellers who do handmade micropave here that I can think of (I''m in Melbourne, Australia) and if something happened to a LM ring I would only want LM to fix it - kind of inconvenient at this distance!

Will investigate.

Does anyone else know of any similar options?

I was thinking of one (or two

) string theory bands for myself as a wedding band, so that definitely gets my vote. UCLAbelle has a Tiffany Metro that is very similar to the Leon band, and she photographed it with her EC in HERE.

Have you seen Pixley''s band? Its a tiny emerald cut eternity from Single Stone. LINK. Love!!!

I think the Leon would be beautiful, though, I think if you don''t want to detract from the e. ring, one would be better than two.

Here are some bands I think look lovely w/ emerald cuts:

Dani''s:

Cellentani''s band:

This band is beautiful, does anyone know who made it?

I love them as well, I was looking for something like this at one time to go w/ my baguette side stone e-ring, but couldn't find anything this pretty and delicate. I like how the rounds stand out visually from the baguettes instead all blending in a channel together... she got them from shopnbc.com and unfortunately they are long gone, but maybe someone else has seen something similar - here is the thread where she discusses it: Cellentani's Bands

Have you thought about Ritani pave bands? Apparently the quality is amazing and they are priced lower than Leon. They will not out sparkle the EC as diamonds this small don''t sparkle anyways, they shimmer.

I also like this band from facets. Shared prong would stand up a little better than pave, and the price is awesome! Only 1.5mm
