Was this a fair price?

I just learned about this great website with a lot of useful information. I was wondering if I could get some feedback in regards to the price paid on a diamond. After doing some searches on the pricestats in pricescope.com, We (my fiance and I) are not too sure that the diamond he got was as good of a deal as we thought.
It is an EGL certified Round Brilliant Cut, 1.005 Ct, SI2, G.
Measurements: 6.40 - 6.43 X 3.95mm
The price paid for this diamond was $3950.
Is that a fair value, or a little above average?

What about proportions? I assume you didn't buy via the interent?

The diamond was not bought from the internet, but through an independent jeweler(friend of the family).
Unfortunately, I don't have the proportions info currently. I will get back to you on that.
We are considering getting a diamond upgrade, and that is why we want to know whether we should still go through this jeweler or through another source.
