After reading the information on this site, I may downgrade my diamond search from a GIA H color/VS2/1 carat to GIA G color/SI1/1carat. The question that I pose for you: Is there much of a difference between the two diamonds? Also, I am considering my purchase from Union Diamond or Solomon Brothers. Which do you think would have the best quality and deal? Below is what I found online between the to stores. Which do you think is the better deal?

VS is going to clearly have I higher price tag. But I would not look at the grading in order to eliminate stones. I would look at the stones in person and if they are eye clean then there should be no worries on what its graded is. (unless you want the best) I think the best value will be the SI stones (as long as eye clean) Line up the stones in person tell the jeweler not to tell you the price of the 3 you selected and then pick the stone you like the most. (maybe VS maybe SI you may be suprised). Personally I would pick stone #3 (if eye clean)

If its me I would go with the VS2 for sure. If you can take both of them outside on a sunny day and look at them closely you will know what I'm talking about. My fiance and I looked at a few SI1s and although they are eye clean under certain lighting I keeping seeing the inclusions. I say look at both for them together in different lighting w/o knowing which is vs2 or si1 and see which one stands out. Depending on the inclusions, it may effect the sparkle of the diamond as well so you have to ask yourself whats important. For me personally I would pay a extra few grand and get the VS2 but thats just me.

Not enough information about those stones to judge. Can you post the GIA report numbers and the information from the certs regarding crown and pavilion angles in addition to the table and depth %?
