VS2 feather at girdle. Durability issue?

Hi,

I am looking to buy this diamond for an engagement ring. It has VS2 clarity but there are red lines (feathers) at the girdle of the diamond diagram at the bottom of the attached GIA report. Will this cause durability issue? I've read some postings by experts that said any feathers of clarity grade SI2 or higher shouldn't be a problem. However, others said that it would potentially be a problem if the feather is at the girdle and cut through two surfaces. The feather is located at the 10 o'clock position of the top view and 2 o'clock position of the bottom view. From what you see on the GIA report, is this diamond still a good buy? Please advise. Thanks.

I'd be much more worried about how it looks, personally - v steep pav angle + short so even steeper LGFs... have you seen it in-person? Examined it in a variety of lighting types?

To answer your specific question though - hopefully you trust your vendor, talk to them about your concerns and if you want extra assurance you can have it sent to an (independent) appraiser for a second opinion. If it was my stone and my trusted vendor said it wouldn't be a problem re. setting or daily wear I wouldn't worry any more about it.

Are you planning to get the setting from this vendor as well? That is my recommendation - less hassle, far fewer potential liability issues
