Vote for new Hope Diamond setting

Isn''t there an element of danger when you take any diamond out of its setting and reset it???

are they doing this to bring people into the Smithsonian or maybe into the state to vacation...dont fool with the current edwardian setting from cartier.

I got an email back from them today - looks like a canned response:

"Thank you for contacting us about the Hope Diamond.

The Hope Diamond setting will be only temporary, and will be placed on display for a limited time. After about six months or so, The Hope Diamond will return to its historic setting, and be seen as it''s always been seen.
