I came across this web site and realized that some of you were discussion a diamond called Vivida cut. I''m in a process of getting my wife a new diamond and I want it to be a unique cut and not an ordinary one.
Reading your discussion got me to think that may be the Vivida cut can be considered as an option.
While searching the web for further info I found out that the Vivida company launched their new web site www.vividacut.com which I have to admit it looks like they''re still running it, but it gave me some of the info I needed.
Does any of you saw the real thing ? What do you think about this diamond? I gotta be very creative for my coming anniversary or else...................well, you know.

Hi! Welcome Brian!

I don't know if getting a branded cut (which looks almost identical to a Lucida) is more creative than the presentation of a tastful ring, or just spending that money on a larger non-branded diamond, or just getting a more classic cut? To me, it's not the gift that sets the creativity as much as the presentation and thought behind it. To me a different cut diamond doesn't equal more effort, it kind of implies LESS. I would worry that you would rely on the "uniqueness" of the cut to make up for the creativity she may crave for from you. The cut is not even that unique that people would recognize it was a unique cut. It would likely cost more as a branded cut, but would be no different than any other mixed cut which it looks like. Maybe even getting a Lucida itself would be just a bit more, but if she likes the Tiffany name...? or a non-branded cut, but larger? Or something set in a fancier setting?

We people want proof of how much we are loved, it is not resolved with a more expensive gift or stranger gift, it's resolved by the effort put INTO the gift, or the customizeability of that gift to what we want and who we are. Is she more a classic person? Would she like say an assher cut in a setting you designed? Maybe something where your presentation is more unique, and dramatic?

I had a friend who for her anniversary, her husband had packed her a bag of a few items, bought her a nice new dress and a few key pieces of clothing, had them sent to the hotel, and "on their way to dinner" drove her to the airport and gave her the gift on the flight. It left her stunned. I know of an engagement that happened on a helicopter over NYC, and when they landed, there was a string quartet, and a romantic table set up right on the water's edge at sunset. (glad she said YES!)

Depending on your wife and what WOWs her, I suggest you put the effort into making her feel special and loved, more than just making the cut different. If you really like the cut, I say go for it (it's lovely), but to me it might be better to get a nice classic stone (that has easier replacement options, God forbid) and less trend appeal, but with a presentation that will leave her breathless...

I agree 100% with Nicrez.

And honestly? It''s not as unique as you think. There are many stones that have similar looks to that and when it''s set in a ring everyone will think it''s a princess anyway.

thank you for your help!
but that vivida diamond looks so much sparkle then the other that i already saw.
what do you think should i look for it anyway?

How many other diamonds have you seen? Did the vivida cut look good in all lighting? What where the specs on the stone you saw?

In my opinion you have two options. One, to buy the stone based on sheer gut and if you liked it, then go for it. But KNOW what your wife would want. To me diamonds are personal, as much a a dress would be. Sure someone can know you well enough to by you a dress and even knowing your size, but sometimes if doesn''t fit you or accentuate your features. To me a different diamond cut is like buying a trendy dress, the kind that is in fashion for the moment. It may be nice NOW, but in 5 years when the style is different, will it be as novel, or even worn?

I think your other option is to look around and see several types of cuts. In person they look so different, because the point of advertising photos is to entice, not to accurately depict. it''s like saying the fashion models really do have airbrushed skin...

It''s advertising, and you have to determine if it''s accurate enough or not.

Happy upcoming anniversary!

On the Vivida .. looks just like Tiffany''s Lucida cut. There''s another, um, look-a-like brand out there too (Euphora??). SO - it''s not a groundbreakingly unique cut ... in fact, it would probably feel "less than" than the original (Tiffany Lucida) once people started asking it was a Lucida or Princess.

BUT

What kind of jewelry were you thinking? Earrings? Pendant? Three-stone ring? Anniversary band?

Because another thing to consider about the Lucida/Euphora/Vivida TYPE of stone is that it will face up much smaller than other cuts, because of it''s squarish shape and high depth. The same carat weight in a Round or Pear or Oval will LOOK much larger, as they are shallower cuts.

Personally, I love the Lucida. I positively YEARN for a bezel-set Lucida pendant. FOR ME it would be the perfect anniversary/40th b-day (hint hint) present. And I''ve even considered having a substitute made with a Euphora stone. (But that I''d feel better about doing MYSELF, rather than getting it as a gift ... JMHO).
