Well, most people set rubies in yg, so that is a possibility. I have a rhodolite garnet in an ugly setting that is yg and I think it is a good color metal for the stone. I really favor blues and lavendars for the white gold.

Hi Harriet,

As promised, I checked out the prices for setting that stone for you. deFred is quoting abt SD1,000-SD1,300 for WG whereas The Carat Club''s quote is SD600 for WG or SD1,200 for platinum. I think deFred is a bit on the high side whereas TCC is on the low side. For WG,, based on my personal experience, this setting should set you back abt SD800-900.

Ha ha Harriet.

It is a very personal thing here, but the only coloured gemstone I do not like is Rhodolite Garnet, I love all other shades of Garnet. It is something I do not understand really because I like all colour, ALL, I even like the colour of Rhodolite Garnet for something else just not in a gemstone for some reason. Goes to show there is no telling taste. I don't even know myself why I don't like it. It is not like I see the stone on other people and say yuck because I have seen it, I just would not buy one for myself but I would buy any other gemstone. I even like dark opaque gemstones. CAN'T understand it. If I didn't like other gems I could understand it but why only this one colour.

If you love the stone, go for it. I would.
