So I've been holding out a little bit on you guys. If you're a Daniel M stalker, you might have noticed a little project they did for me. I've been doing my best to get pictures for you guys, but it's a tricky little thing and has a lot of personalities.

Stone details:
Spinel
Light Violet-Blue
1.82 carats
8.4 x 6.0 mm
Untreated

Setting:
Daniel M
Silver
size 6.5ish
Maybe a temp setting, maybe not.

I've been playing with the idea of potentially getting an emerald diamond eventually, so I've had the idea of am emerald colored stone and trying out the shape in the back of my mind. And I've been trying to hard to set stuff instead of buy stuff, and then I spotted this sucker and had to have it.

First, vendor pics....

The first one is the first picture I saw. I just had this feeling...so I asked for more!

Plus an additional little somethin' somethin'.

More vendor pics.

So then I got it in hand, and had a terrible time of trying to capture it. Sometimes it looks silvery...

Sometimes it doesn't. Playing inside and the sunshine! (My mom's old ering setting.)

Hanging out with my 1.55ct supernova from Barry and my 1.1ct sapphire from Gene.

Then I got it set! Daniel M's photos!

Sorry for so many pics...I'm totally infatuated with this stone.

It's not precision cut, but I think it's still well cut. Check out the claw prongs!

With my newer light blue/violet sapphire and diamond band. I adore the way the step cut behaves! It's the only one that I have set.

Last ones...

Speaking of the crazy movie theater's neon lighting, if you're familiar with a certain channel on youtube...

And the little surprise...

ETA:

My first tanzanite! It's far from ideal color wise, but it's exactly what I was looking for, for a certain project. The cutting doesn't get any better than this, and obviously I *like* that light blue/purple/violet shade...in fact, I may have a problem. :naughty:

From Gene at PrecisionGem.com

Gem 695 - Tanzanite - 2.58 ct. This one is a medium blue with violet color tanzanite. The stone was naturally blue with out heat, but I heated it to burn off a gray cast. Measures 7.92

Color: 6/10
Clarity: 9/10

Love it! Chameleon. Hey how 'bout that? The Mystic Chameleon?! :wink2:

Love Gene cutting, but you knew that already!

Love the step cut -- and your band with it is fab! The Gene stone just fascinates, as usual.

Wow, it's gorgeous Freke!!! Love the colors!

You are definitely enjoying those elegant greys....i didn't realize the Tanzy was sooooo sparkly. Thanks for sharing and what better way to spend mothers say morning than to enjoy beautiful jewelry!

Thanks Laurie! It looks amazing with the band. I'll have to pull them out later and take more pictures together, because they really suit each other very well.

Lol. Thanks Missy! I have apparently found my perfect color and have set about trying to acquire every stone I can find that's that color!

Thank you! I just go for what I like! (And luckily for me, what I like is usually NOT the norm!)

Both gems are unusual and gorgeous. I really like the tanzanite, as I've looked at a pretty good amount of them, but never seen one quite like it - it's very beautiful!

Thanks katharath!! I haven't given it a real photoshoot yet. I just took a few shots of it after I got it. My daughter has no patience for me taking picture of small sparkling things, so I'll have to take some time out some time when she's napping!

I took a few iphone pics this morning...with the sapphire and diamond band.

And I was playing in my jewelry box while above-mentioned daughter was out with daddy to give mom some peace and quiet for a while.

You have a stunning ring collection! Wow!

Wow!!  Big Blue is really...big! and...blue! in that picture

WOW!!! Freke!!! that's incredible - firstly - your GORGEOUS new violet spinel ring - and I ADORE the work of DanielM!!! And secondly --- your collection! HOLY COW, I'd love to come and play next time daddy takes baby girl out to play!! :D

You have a great sense of what works best, when you are putting stones and settings together. I really love how a simple setting lets your gemstones stand out. And this violet spinel is gorgoeus!! I love the silver undertones and how it just has such a personality to it--- ENJOY!!!
