Vintage.... whats timeless, sapphire or diamond side stones

I am a big vintage fan and I'm wondering if adding sapphires to the ring of my choice is the way to go. I can do plain diamonds too. I know I've posted a few threads about new settings, I'm starting to feel a bit sentimental about my current set. I got engaged, married and actually birth wearing it. So I have ties to it. I can have the same setting ordered but it will be right, I just don't know if I should go that route or what. Its very vintage looking with tapered baguette side stones which are diamonds right now. i think diamond side stones are more timeless than colored stones, but those can be pretty classic too.


i think if you really love your original setting, id set a colored stone in it and wear it as a RHR, then you get the best of both worlds

Order the same setting for sentimental reasons, bur change the sides to sapphires - so it's a bit different too!

I think both are classic...many antique settings have sapphire sidestones, so if you like a vintage look sapphires would certainly work and look very pretty in your current setting. That said, I lean towards diamonds for my ering. It boils down to personal preference I guess. Either would be lovely.

Good luck with your decision! Just going by recent posts you seem undecided as to what you want to do...not that there's anything wrong with that! I've been going back and forth on my current setting lately as well. Let us know what you finally decide and come back with pics!

How about a wrap for your ring? That way you can alternate sapphire and diamond side stones to suit your mood!

What a great idea - a newer version of the old wraps that turns a solitaire into a three stone. I wonder if this could be done well with other shape stones. If I don't stop looking at PS, I will never decide and DO something! LOL
