Found myself a fun ring! I love purple but rarely wear it. I stumbled across this ring just randomly browsing Instagram last week and couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I bought it. I love bold statement jewelry and this fits the bill! It’s set in 18k and wowwww do I love the prongs.

I love cabs and I love this! Chunky but not clunky! Very cool.

New? Vintage?

Open on the back or is there a closed back and a "reflector"?

@Autumn in New England thank you! I should clarify it was advertised as sugarloaf but it is obviously a cab.

@LilAlex its open under the stone, no reflector. Oddly, I took pics early evening while the sun was still pretty bright and it looks darker in them. However, I looked at the ring again in my bedroom with just lamp light and the stone looks MUCH lighter! Idk much about how cabs perform in different light so this is new to me. But back to your question, no, no reflector and the underside is open. Oh, and it was advertised as “vintage.” I’m guessing late 90s/early 00s; I remember seeing this style back then, anyway.

it was advertised as sugarloaf but it is obviously a cab.

I think of sugarloaf as a sub-class of cab so I was using "cab" generically. I've seen sugarloaf used to refer to a "tall" cab and also to the more accurate "pyramidal" tall cab. I have a true sugarloaf that I thought was not because the base has an oval silhouette -- but on closer inspection, it really was a true sugarloaf. So it can be hard to tell, even in person.

Has almost a Bulgari (wait I mean BVLGARI :cool2:) look with those cool prongs!

his is the first I’m hearing the term “tombstone prongs!” Consequently I googled and now I want this neck piece, so thanks for that.

I think I made that up just to be descriptive -- but if it's already out there...

Yes, you need that necklace for sure! I mean how much could it be? :lol-2: And it's a pretty good match... I think we saw "Lady Arabesque" in concert once.

Love the ring and you are right, what lovely prongs! I never knew that prongs can be fun before being on PS.

It’s so lovely. The purple cab just looks so delicious!! Love it!

This February baby loves your new ring! I've been recently obsessed with finding a glowy cab as well. Congrats on finding a really cool one!

Another cab lover here...love the high dome and delicious purple color!

Ooo, I can see why you were drawn to it! Lovely find. I wear a lot of purple but as of yet don't own any purple gemstones. This one is a treat.

Fabulous! I adore cabochons & that is a great ring---wear in good health.
