Vintage Ring Modifications, Please Advise!

Hello! I am an androgynous woman and have had a hard time finding a ring that really feels like me. Then I stumbled on a ring at Shane company that I adored. The only problem is that I’m allergic to nickel, Shane company’s alloys contain nickel, I don’t want only yellow gold, and I don’t love how heavy platinum is (or how heavy the price tag is). Then I found this awesome 70’s men’s ring. It’s a size 10, and I’m a 6.25. I am wondering if anyone knows how much it would cost/is it even possible to 1. Reduce the metal thickness in the top part of the ring. 2. Move the two edge Princess cut diamonds to a 45-60 degree angle when resizing to look more like the Shane company ring, and 3. Alter the smooth angles to be more like the hard edges of the Shane company ring. Am I doing too much? In the images, the Shane company ring is the one that is all white gold and the vintage one is a mix of white and yellow gold.

The eragem ring is noted as sold in your picture - did you buy it?

I think if you can even find a jeweler/bench who wants to take on this multi-point modification job (I feel this is important to have the end product looking good, along with having the skill to do so) you’ll end up spending more compared to having something custom made. You are requesting hand fabrication rework of almost if not every surface area of the entire ring.

Especially if you go to DKJ for what your heart desires, as your cost point to compare. Ask him for a quote. Two tone or nickel free WG.

Yeah this sounds like a custom remake job. I would not advise trying to revise an existing ring.

I prefer the style of the vintage ring fwiw.

I think the Shane ring is fantastic. I like the style with the more angular, geometric look, the white metal, and it looks great/perfect in the hand photos.

EraGem ring will be at a price point already quite market (versus discounted). I would not purchase a finished ring and then try to modify it to your liking (adding more costs to an already not discounted price, likely not going to fit your vision, also, it’s yellow gold, and sizing down from 10 to 6.25 might destabilize the stones and be costly).

I would do a couple things. 1) see if Shane can make that ring in an alloy that does not contain nickel. Maybe they would cast it in Silver?
2) get David Klass Jewelry to make a perfect ring for you, in your design. DKJ uses any alloy you could imagine, including whiter silver alloys, I’m guessing they have access to a nickel free alloy, and DKJ sends you the CADS to scrutinize, and the wax model so you can try on before casting.

You can also work with a local jeweler in this.

I would guess the Shane co is from a casting company anyway. You can always peruse those and look for a dealer near you.

I wouldn't buy a ring that required as much modification as you're thinking about. You'll probably end up paying for the ring close to twice. I ditto that if you can't find the setting you like from someone like Stuller, then DK could make this ring for you.

Also, not sure where you live so make sure there is a local jeweler who can order from Stuller if you find something you like in their catalog.
