Victor Barbone - Pricing

Last edited:
Pretty stone. But pairing this stone and the facet pattern it has, with the more ‘typical’ OMC sidestones pattern wouldn’t make me happy in the long run.
Just IMO
If my initial wants were omc facet pattern and all that.

Hmmm I never thought of that. Just want to see if @OMCplease likes it.

What is your budget and what are you looking to accomplish?
platinum? Big stone? A lot of look? Filigree? A lot of your stuff in terms of design is all over the map. I would love to find suggestions for yo but like idk what you want lol

I think she has found what she wants on Victor Barbone website. She wants to check with psers if she’s overpaid.

Thank you for sharing! That stone doesn’t really speak to me since I’m looking for OMC.

Thank you for sharing! I do prefer an OMC for the center stone, but thanks :)

I am just wondering if it is overpriced—I do like the ring itself and am not looking for another design. Thank you, though!

That’s my fault I got this post confused with someone else who asked the exact same thing.
Is it overpriced? Yes.

It’s a very beautiful ring. Would you give us some hand shots? I really love to see it.

I supposed it can be overpriced but it is a premium to pay for something that’s in stock which she likes so much.

Also, I for one find that waiting can cause me to change my mind which is not fair for anyone.

For retail, I don’t think it is too bad...if you search the websites of vendors with old cut stones, it’s not out of line pricing in the three stones & setting. Added benefit is you know exactly what you are getting; doing a custom version can be challenging to get all the details exactly like what you imagine in your mind.

I feel the same as EC8 - I don't think the price is that bad for retail. JMO. I don't know, trying to figure out diamond pricing gives me a headache lol. Maybe sometimes we just have to go with our hearts and just buy what we love. In the long run it might be worth paying a bit more anyway it if you really love it and will feel fabulous every time you put it on your finger. Going custom can be a pain....challenging to find matching stones, setting issues, etc. It's a beautiful ring.

For retail, I also don't think it is necessarily overpriced. If you like it, it is unique enough so that while you COULD create it on your own, you'd probably be waiting around for the right stones at the right price for quite some time. So if you love it, I wouldn't worry about the price and would just get it. It's not like a MRB three-stone where you can super easily make a new one if this one is overpriced. Sometimes you have to pay a bit more to get exactly what you want when exactly what you want isn't readily available.

Do not like the cut quality of the OMC. Leaky, deep, small spread (even considering it is OMC), expensive. Pass

Hi, what's wrong with a deep OMC? Is that what causes it to be "leaky"?

As @LightBright mentioned, an OMC is typically steep and deep and puffy. And yes, some leakage is expected. However, it is just a tad too deep (making the diamond appear smaller, at least horizontally) and has a tad too much leakage to my liking. I also wish the maltese cross was a bit chunkier.
I say the centre stone is worth 9k and the side stones are 1k together. If you think the setting is worth about 4k (which in line with the ring @joelly is interested in), it may be a good deal.
But for me, I am not a fan of this stone and I don't think the setting is worth 4k. But then, I don't know anything about this particuler jeweller.
Maybe I was a bit harsh on this one. After a second look, objectively speaking, I think it is beautiful and the pricing is fair from a B&M jeweller. It is just not for me.

Thanks. That’s super helpful. I’m having such a difficult time finding this info, but is there a % that is “ideal” for depth in OMCs? Is it preferable to go for a lower %?
