I just purchased a 1.22 CT Round Ideal Cut, VS1 Clarity, I Color, that has Very Strong Blue Fluorescence..

Based on the GIA Report, the diamond scores a 1.8 on the HCA which is excellent as well as gets 0000 AGS score.

Here are the specs

Table 56%
Depth 62%
Crown 34.5%
Pavilion 41%
Culet 0%

Excellent Polish
Excellent Symmetry

I really like what strong blue fluorescence can do to diamonds and I'm crossing my fingers I don't experience the hazy/oily effect with strong fluorescence.

From the image below, does this look like a good diamond and should I be worried about the haziness or cloudiness?

I would ask the vendor if they would take a picture of the stone out in the daylight. Then you'll be able to make a judgement for yourself.

Wherever the stone is, they should be able to examine it and tell you, before you buy if this is a problem. From the pic it looks like it could be hazy, but that could easily be the photography. That said, if the return policy is good enough, you might be okay getting it in person and then seeing it.

You probably aren't going to see any haziness unless you take it in the sunlight to check it. The picture looks fine. One of the appraisers here recently said that it is possible that haziness is related to the inclusions that a diamond has and not solely on the fluorescence, such as if the stone has a lot of clouds combined with fluorescence. You bought a VS1, so I am thinking it is not likely that you'll have any problem. I have a G VS1 stone with strong blue, and in indirect sunlight, you can see the slightest tinge of lavender/blue, but what it does is make the stone look super white. An I with BF is a good buy!

Thanks for everyone's input so far. I have emailed the vendor to see if they can provide any pics of the diamond in the sunlight, however I did speak with them briefly and they said it did not have any milky/oily effect.

I do have 30 days to return the diamond if I don't like it, so that is reassuring.

Just received the ring and it looks great. The only time you see a slight blueish hint is in hard direct sunlight (I live in Florida) and it looks like a slight lavender to me. I do not see a milky or an oily affect at all. In shaded sunlight the rock is white as white can be. And under fluorescent/led lights inside the thing is white and sparkles beautifully.

The rock also looks really cool under a black light.

I'll get some pictures posted up later

So far very happy with what I got

That is exactly how mine is! I am glad you like it! I honestly prefer fluorescence when I can find it!
