I recently bought a diamond from Good Old Gold - as expected the diamond is stunning, GOG''s service was excellent and everything went without a hitch. Just to be sure that the diamond matched the certificate and that it was not chipped or damaged and for peace of mind, I took it to Diamond Certification Labortory of Australia (DCLA) in Sydney. I knew they were busy because when I rang beforehand they said they had a lot of stones to grade that afternoon and that if I wanted a full grading it would not be available until the next day. When I arrived, I was invited into the lab and Roy Cohen weighed the stone, performed a Sarin analysis, put it in a device that will pick up if it is not a real diamond and closely inspected the stone under a loupe and then had one of his colleagues do likewise. All of this was on the spot while I waited. Roy was extremely helpful and informative and, although obviously busy, took time to explain what he was doing.
If anyone in Australia is looking to have a diamond independently assessed I would definitely recommend sending it to DCLA. Their lab is absolutely state of the art and I can''t really say enough about the service I received.
