Verifying Stone''s identity

How easy is it for a jeweler to verify that a stone matches its certificate? Can you simply loupe the set diamond and match the inclusions to the report plot?

Most professional jewelers and almost all gemologists can do it no problem with a loupe if VS2 clarity or less, and a microscope if VS1 or better.

Some grizzled, seasoned diamond dealers who were born with a loupe attached to their eye can do a VVS stone without a microscope, but I'd feel better about it if they used one.
