Vatche royal crown setting not upgradeable, suggestions?

Hi all,
We're upgrading from 0.8 to 1.2 - 1.5 carats and I just learned the beautiful platinum size 6.5 setting doesn't take a larger stone. Any experts have a suggestion for non-branded alternative setting with a similar look?

After unsettling the Vatche would you recommend selling on loupetroup or elsewhere? What's a realistic list price? It was purchased for $2000+ from GOG 5 years ago. If it's not worth much I'd just as soon keep as set a coloured stone.

Whiteflash has it right now for $1656 in platinum, and it seems the starting price for *most* pre-loved settings is about half (with more ornate/higher-end custom settings being a little higher), so I imagine that might be what you could use as a starting point for resale on LT/DB.

If you do list it, might I suggest that you provide what your stone’s measurements (in millimeters) are that was in the ring so potential buyers have an idea of what might fit in it. Maybe even inquire to the jeweler you bought it from what the threshold/tolerance is for another stone to go in that setting. That drives me NUTS when I’m looking for a preloved setting, and someone uses a generic “held a 1 ct stone” to advise what would fit in it.

I just set the center diamond from my Vatche Serenity pave ring into a 3-stone ring. Rather than waste a perfectly good mounting, I had Wink set a 8mm CZ in it (2.21 F-SI1 CBI was 8.36 - 9.39mm) in it. Perhaps you could do the same to create a travel ring, or set it with a colored stone.

Was there anything about the RoyalCrown you did not like or would like to improve upon or change?

Hey Rocky!

Thanks for your awesome suggestions, the thing is she loves everything about the Vatche and I personally love the way it coordinates with her tiffany shared setting diamond band.

Her immediate feedback on the suggestions was that she prefers no taper toward the diamond, and likes the width of her Royal Crown which I believe is 2.5mm.

Based on this input I am encouraging her to go with another vatche or similar custom option. She was a fan of the criss-cross which said reminded her of the Tiffany Lucida. I'm widening my search for all 6-prong trellis options - or a custom could be comparable to the vatche.
GOG has found a brilliant diamond but out of budget - isn't it always the way...

I have a custom 6-prong trellis setting for one of my CBI diamonds. It was 2.1 mm wide and did not taper towards the diamond. I am pretty sure that HPD's custom bench could make it 2.5 mm wide with no pave if you wanted it that way. I also had a Vatche ring that was very similar, but I prefer HPD's Symphonie instead.
