Just curious...if I had a size 3.5ish finger and my center stone was going to be around 0.75 carats would this ring be too much? Too overpowering for the finger and or center stone? I''d probably get it in 18K yellow gold with a platinum head. Thanks!

Not at all, I think it would be pefect!!!

Does this ring come up high off of the finger? I''ve tried on the X-prong but not the Royal Crown.

The Royal Crown does look like it sits up high, my guess would be 8mm. and .75 on a 3.5 would be lovely

Northstar-
No worries. I have the Royal Crown 18K/plat head and it is a low sitting ring.
Check out PreciousJewel''s ring. Her ring size is a 2.5 and she''s got a Vatche with specs of: 3.16 ct, J SI1. It looks gorgeous on her hand! Scroll down on this thread. I do want to emphasize that the RC is definitely a low sitting ring and .75ct-I guess for an ideal cut stone that''d be around 6mm spread. That will look so pretty on!

Hi Northstar,

I just received my Vatche Royal Crown with a .75 center stone and it is stunning. The setting is beautifully fluid and the size of the stone just perfect with respect to the width of the ring. I am a size 5 and the center stone looks like a good size. On your finger it would look even more substantial but definitely not overwhelming.

The Royal Crown is a very dainty and delicate setting that does not set up high at all. I think it''s a perfect ring for a small hand, and the .75 carat size sounds just perfect for that setting.

well, i stand corrected

Based on the pictures on the WF website it looked like a high setting to me. But those who have them are the ones who know best. Let us know what you decide. Does anyone know the exact height of the setting?

I think it''s higher than the x-prong though, isn''t it? Maybe that is why it seems to be a high setting.

I think that with a bigger stone (like 1.5-2 carat or so) the RC might out of necessity have to sit up higher to accomodate the stone. I think the picture on WF is probably of a ring with a stone larger than 1 carat. Mine was set with a 1/2 carat stone and it did not set high whatsoever. I''m thinking it wouldn''t be much of a difference in a .75 carat stone. When I discussed the setting with a rep at WF, I was told that the width of the band and the height of the setting on the RC were dependent on the size of the stone.

Thank you for your replies! I''m trying to check one out in person today and I''ll let you know what I think!

My boyfriend just purchased my diamond through Whiteflash today...woohoo!! He tried to order the Royal Crown setting by Vatche for me but was told they were out of stock because the company is closing. Is that true?

Adding to my previous post, does anyone have suggestions on a new setting for my 1.21 ct round diamond? He told Whiteflash we''d get back to them today because we''d like them to set it to. I was looking at the 18K White Gold Royal Crown by Vatche and would like to keep the new setting at or below this price of $605. I noticed there are a lot of platinum (which I''d prefer) solitare''s on the first page for under $600, but I don''t know about the quality of the platinum. Can anyone recommend one...especially one that is comfortable to wear?

Who is closing - Vatche?????

Not heard this - it sounds... questionable.

You may want to start a separate thread for this question - perhaps the guys from WF (or other Vatche vendors) will see it directly and comment.

Clarification: Vatche closes for 2 weeks during the summer months. Their company is not closing.

ksomerville -- I have a 4 prong tiffany solitaire from WF. It is the one that is $350 on the first page of solitaires. It is very comfortable but it sits too low for my taste.

I have a 1.5ct round (that faces up more like a 1.25ct b/c it is deep) that is in a contour setting. I did not get it from WF but I noticed they have one for $600 in platinum. I don''t know the exact measurements on theirs but mine is 3.5mm wide, which is probably as wide as the royal crown setting (but I would check with them to be sure). It is very confortable!

Let me see if I can post some pics for you. Sorry they aren''t the best. I need to take some new ones.

I should also add that I recently went to a jeweler to have my ring cleaned and he said the quality of the platinum was good.

Here''s the side view of my 1.5ct

Sorry , I don''t know how to do a collage.

Here it is with my eternity band. I love this look!

Northstar -- this is my 0.72ct from WF in a 4 prong tiffany type setting on a size 6 finger. It was first thing in the morning when I took this so my fingers look puffy. I think it would look even better on a size 3.5 finger!

Northstar, after reading Jellybean''s posts, I thought I''d throw something else in for you to consider (btw, Jellybean, I love looking at pics of your ring again!)

I originally had the Vatche RC with a .53 stone. I wasn''t all that happy with it. It seemed too dainty or something. It didn''t sit up to high, but I just thought that the setting wasn''t as substantial as I would have liked. So I traded it in on the Laureato setting, which I have been MUCH more pleased with. After a brief amount of consideration, I decided to upgade the .53 stone to a .74. Now I REALLY love my ring! The Laureato setting is also by WF, and is on their website. I think it comes in yellow and white gold (maybe even platinum but I''m not sure, I''d have to check again...). To me, the Laureato was still delicate, but a bit more substantial and felt somehow weightier to me that the Vatche RC. I got mine in 18K yellow gold with platinum prongs. My fingers are not nearly as small as yours, I wear a size 6, and I think the diamond and the setting look pretty sizable on my hand. I think they''d look fantastic on a size 3 1/2 finger!

For comparison, I''ll show you the picture of my .53 in the Vatche RC setting that WF sent me prior to shipping the ring out. You can kind of see for scale how it looks.

Now I will attempt to send you a picture of my .74 ACA set in the Laureato from WF. Cross your fingers.

Yipee! It worked! The setting is totally a personal choice, but I was way more impressed with both the workmanship and the substantiality of the Laureato than I was with the Royal Crown. WF sells them both, and they are comparable in price. Good luck making your decision, I hoped I''ve been helpful!

This is the Channel Set RC on WF''s website. Have you seen it? This one is shown in platinum with channel set baguettes. I''m sure I''ve seen this same setting elsewhere in YG with channel set rounds. If this interests you, it would be worth enquiring at WF if they can get this in the metal of your choice? Just a thought.

I knew I''d seen the Royal Crown in yellow gold with channel set rounds...duh! It was on the Vatche website! Here it is...I LOVE this setting. I think this ring is shown with a 1.5 carat stone.
