Those who have this setting or have seen it, could you please offer input!

I am looking into this for a 1.2 carat princess cut.

I have read that some have mentioned the stone is set low - I like my stone set a tad higher - more towards medium with a cathedral. Do you recommend I request it to be set medium? Or at least a little higher than normal? Would it mess up the look of this ring?

It still allows a band to sit flush right? Is it too low - I guess that’s my question.

Also the princess cut ring is listed as 2.2mm wide and the the round as 2.3mm wide. But then I’ve seen from other vendors this same rig listed as 2.5mm. I want to stay away from 2.5 because my last ring was that wide and drove me crazy (also was straight/pipe cut). How wide is yours? And if i specify to keep at 2.2mm is that too thin??

Thank you!!!!!!

I've always found if we do not specify wanting a stone set higher or lower, they do it perfectly. This is why Vatche sets the diamonds in their stones. They have an eye for making it perfect.

For a 1.2ct princess cut, the shank would be about 2.3mm. You can actually request that they thin it a little bit.

Thank you! Appreciate your input.

How about the prongs? I always have had V tip prongs for princess cuts but it seems most designers don’t use them. What is the consensus? v tip is safest (protects the corners) right? Is the claw or round preferred aesthetically?

I like claw prongs but I Think vatche does more of a rounded prong..?

You can actually request they do V-tips, and your jeweler will need to request that prior to sending in the diamond.

I personally like V-tips with a princess cut as it protects the sharp points.
