Good afternoon everyone,
Something I have not read much about is variance of Sarin/Megascope readings, and I was wondering if someone would be able to show me the light, so to speak,

For example, I''m looking at the following diamond, and these are the readings I''ve been given off the megascope report:

.67 ct VS1 F $2850
diameter 5.67 (5.65-5.68, 0.6%)
total depth 60.7% (3.44mm)
crown angle 34.4 (34.1-34.7%) variance of 0.6%
crown height 14.5 (14.3-14.6%) Variance of 0.3%
pavilion angle 40.8 (40.7-40.9%) variance of 0.2%
pavilion depth 43.0 (42.9-43.0%) variance of 0.1%
culet 0.5% very small
table size 56.1% (55.8-56.6%) variance of 0.8%
girdle 1.6% (1.3-1.8%) variance of 0.5%

Would anyone argue that a table variance of 0.8% or a crown angle variance of 0.6% be enough to affect the diamond? What would you accept as a level of variance? Also, I''ve noted different machines give out different measurements, should I run this diamond through another machine, or take the readings as is?

Finally, is $2850 a reasonable price for this diamond? It''s a H&A.

Thanks in advance,
skyline

Here is the actual report, for the experts who note what they're actually looking at, unlike a non-expert like me

!

Any feedback? A great cut diamond, or not?

Those "variances" are actually the high / low measurements that the averages are based upon. Totally normal. The less variance the better, but there will always be some. Looks like a pretty nice stone by the numbers!

No more readings already!!

It's time to LOOK at the stone!

Hi Diamond Expert,
Sorry for all the readings, but I'm actually making a trip to New York in middle June for 2 weeks (believe me, it's a very long way for me from where I come from...), and I intend to pick up the diamond during the course of my travels. I've actually been interested in 5-6 diamonds, (sorry if it sounds like I've been pitching the same one back and forth), and I just wanted to be absolutely sure that there weren't things I was missing on the readings before I ventured forth.

By asking for info on this website, I've been able to narrow the list down to 2 (maybe 3), and I was hoping I could narrow it down even further before I went to NYC and laid eyes on the diamond. I've saved myself 3 trips in NYC already.

Very grateful to everyone on this list for all their help, hope I don't come across as a number obsessed individual (I guess when you're into statistics big time it just comes across that way, doesn't it?)
