I just saw the emerald ring you made for your sister''s 50th birthday, and its beautiful! Seriously stunning. I just wanted to give you a shout out because I haven''t seen a thread on it, and didn''t know if you would check back on the eye candy thread. Its amazing that you made it yourself, and the box too!

Thank you Indy. That means a lot to me coming from a PSer!
I''m a total amateur but I have some more ambitious attempts planned, just wish I had the skills! Anyway it makes a nice hobby and keeps me welcome at the holidays. Well so do the pies!

How did you make that ring VL? Did you cut the stone as well ? From one view it looks as if the setting was fabricated from sheet material. How about some more info and a hint about your upcoming ambitious attempts ? It looks to me as if you already have some good skills, now we just need more pictures ! I just love that emerald cab...it looks almost as edible as a gumdrop.

I wanna see the emerald and setting too.

It''s not a separate thread. It''s on page 49 of the colored stones eye-candy thread... here

Thanks, Kismet. That’s what I get for not checking that thread daily.

You can count me in as another interested in knowing who made the setting (looks like high karat gold) and where the emerald cabochon came from.

this will be a long string of pictures showing highlights from the process. Am I right in thinking that I can only load one photo per reply?

I am truly impressed that you are able to do everything from scratch and still have everything come out so beautifully!

Wow!! Amazing! I love seeing this. Thank you so much for sharing.

I have been wanting to take a jewelry making course all year but haven't had the time.

VL- the ring looks great! Something coming back from Etruscan or Roman period. They used high-carat gold and did everything manually. Unique and beautiful.
Are we allowed to ask personal questions? Are you a man or a woman? I am asking this for a reason; most cutters and jewellers I see here are men. Except for Lisa, of course. And you definitely show this cutter''s knack! Just my own interest; you may not answer.

VL: Love that ring and the box. The anecdote about the stone find, way cool.

Fantastic ring, did your sis love it?
