I know this has been discussed before...but I have to decide whether to take rings or leave home.......don''t know that we''ll be doing anyof the kind of hiking where I might have to catch myself or struggle w/rocks, but what about the pool and spa???? Will the chemicals hurt the gold and diamonds????

Maxine, as you noted there are tons of threads on this in the past....everyone has their own opinion...maybe an archive search would assist. I would think not many would change their opinions from the other threads! Also, same for the chemicals questions...

..lots of old threads on that too.

Personally I say take them. Enjoy them. Wear them!

Edited to add, here are two related threads I found in a quickie search:

Well, my vacations are more of the beach and spa variety than the hiking variety so I say take them and enjoy!

Oh, that IS a good plan! Not to wear the jewels so that I can get some more

RE: Taking rings on vacation....

Sure no problem, as LONG AS YOU HAVE A SAFE and SECURE PLACE TO PUT THEM IN DURING THE DAY.

Water with chlorine, such as in pools and hot tubs, attacks the alloy used in most cases, and can make the metal brittle.

Even many repiar shops don''t realize this, and many times the metal become so brittle that it needs replacement.

Read your insurance policy or call your agent to make sure you have an ALL RISK type policy.

Maxine: I usually take my plain White Gold wedding band and my studs when on vacation (then again it depends where I''m heading too!). I am very active and love walking around and exploring and many times I dont want to attract attention to my jewellery-just in case!! Then again, im paranoid like that

I decided to lock them up and leave them home...I am concerned about my ins, which covers only loss...plus I read Rock Doc''s quote on the other thread about caustic chemicals.....I had bought one of those fancy CZs, so I''ll take that for a change and have fun wearing the fabulous fake!!!! (I''m the type who takes jewelry off the minute I get home - and never wear it to the gym.....) Thanks, Guys!!!!
