I sold a few rings and shipped several pieces last week. One of them was a US priority mail box that is now four days past due :(2 I feel badly for the buyer. I have filed a case with the post office and have received confirmation of the receipt of the case.

I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas beyond going to the post office location where I mailed the package but my assumption is that they have the same information I can get online. It’s been a week since I mailed it, so I know all hope is not lost yet – but trying to see if there is any other experienceI can gain from here.

Thanks!

Ooh had this issue. But everything ended up showing up. From what I’ve gathered online, lots of people are having this issue and USPS is slower than usual right now.

My last 2 orders were received later than the estimated delivery time. On the flip side, I sent something to Los Angeles and it basically showed that it left the post office I sent it from and then a few days later it was out for delivery... nothing in between. Usually my packages going to LA show that they bounce around a few distribution centers first. It didn’t even scan at the distribution center in my state.

I think anyone sending anything via USPS right now should expect delays.

I purchased something preloved from an Etsy seller that was shipped first class. It took two full weeks to get about 5 states. It appeared lost (to me, anyway) for over a week and was suddenly delivered. I shipped something USPS priority to Canada and it’s been at the same tracking status for nearly three weeks. I also filed a claim. I feel terrible for the buyer. Of course I’ll refund her if it doesn’t show up but when we buy something, it’s because we want the item!

I think USPS is just super overwhelmed, as are all of the other shipping services. I have never in my life had a package actually lost by USPS so I remain hopeful.

I recently was expecting a delivery, and the seller paid for USPS Express Overnight. Shipping from major west coast city to major east coast city. She mailed it on a Wednesday at 8:50am west coast time, and it didn't arrive until Friday night, east coast time. In the meantime, there was no tracking update between Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon. She was a ball of nerves, worried that it wouldn't show. Luckily, all was well, and USPS refunded the Express surcharge without hesitation.

TL/DR: USPS is a clusterfudge, and likely won't be getting any better in the near term, until DeJoy is replaced, or they receive better funding.

In fall I had something from etsy shipped to me, and it almost took a month to arrive when it was supposed to take a week. It basically went missing, so the artist send me another copy, and then I got both copies around the same time. He said that this issue (with delivery) had never had before, but he had a number of them at the same time (Sept-October). So don't lose all hope but honest it was weeks before it showed up.

What does the tracking say?

Not surprised at delays this time of year. I am sure there is a record amount of deliveries this year consider most people are shopping online.

Package took 2.5 weeks sent from the same town with it disapearing from tracking for over 2 weeks.

The likes of Jeff White and Gary from Finewater Gems advised against USPS for export shipments to UK due to issues with shipment delays. I believe Gary had at least one shipment gone missing.

DK :))

Thanks, folks. I appreciate knowing it’s not just me on this one - misery loves company, right?

Oh it's been bad lately. My friend shipped me a box priority USPS, from 30 miles away. It took 6 days!!!!! When I received it the tracking label had been half chopped off. That delayed the delivery according to my local postal worker.

I have a package that’s currently Mia for about a week. Was supposed to be delivered Monday. I also had a package delayed by a few days last week. I have had had a few other people comment about a drastic slowing and lack up tracking updates.
I’m just preying this one gets it wasn’t a small purchase

I have almost exclusively used usps to ship my jewelry and I have never had anything lost. I feel this is a covid Christmas issue and hope that slow doesn’t mean gone

I sent lots of packages via USPS this summer and fall. Things were fine and very predictable until late June, and then suddenly it was as if the post office hit the brakes. Mid-June... a package from California to Cincinnati took three days. A package mailed to New York the following week took over two weeks. By the end of June, USPS was basically no longer guaranteeing delivery dates for their priority mail. We now ship fedex if something has to get to its destination by a date certain. What’s equally frustrating is that for some services, fedex “partners” with USPS for local delivery. I’ll track a package sent to me via fedex, and see that fedex got it to a local post office for local delivery... and it can still take the post office several days from that point to get it to me!

I had two packages delivered to my local post office last Friday but as of today they have not made it to my house.

Shipping is crazy at the moment.
I’ve waited two months for International Priority paid shipping. A card my mother sent to my sister early November for her birthday (nov 17) still hasn’t arrived. Here in SYancey we only get a mail deliver twice a week (used to be 6 days a week in the lead up to Christmas). My new iPhone, tracked, priority and signed for with ID delivery is still somewhere out there in postage land. The $10 phone case from China for it has arrived.
Yet a huge, heavy parcel I sent “ordinary parcel post” (much too expensive to send priority) to regional Queensland (Post Office guy said it might take up to 4 weeks) was sent on Wednesday afternoon and this morning, Friday, it was delivered! Go figure!

i shipped 2 packages 2 day mail...took 7 days to get there, in the same town....

USPS is overwhelmed and it's a combination of the holidays and Covid 19 with everyone shopping online so try not to worry too much. It will most likely get to you but it is just taking much longer than usual because, well, this is the MO of 2020. :/

It say it was scanned into the mid Carolina center on the day after I dropped it off and it’s MIA after that. On the way to Massachusetts. 46A797CA-936A-4311-B7CC-DDD7D39BDDEB.jpeg

I started a thread with USPS trouble a couple of weeks ago due to a missing package. The package was a miss sort and just sat at the Post Office for days. It's just bad. When I dropped off a package to be mailed two days ago the postmaster said that they are so backed up, due to an unprecedented holiday rush, that some semi trucks full of mail were waiting 20 hours to unload. Fed ex is similarly stressed.

It will get there, slooooowlyyyyy.

I’ve been waiting for something that was supposed to get her Tuesday, says it’s coming today (fingers crossed). That’s not too bad, I do worry about things I’ve recently sold and shipped though. I just hope those folks are understanding about the mail situation.

I'm sorry that there's this delay. But I do really feel for the postal workers who must be under incredible pressure right now to deliver the mail during COVID conditions and the holidays combined. I know I've ordered a ton of stuff through the mail as well as mailing a package, and wlll be mailing cards. Multiply that by 200 million, that's a lot of mail.

We apparently live in the same general area!

Don’t worry at this point.
I googled news for usps and it’s happening all over. Packages are 2 weeks late quite frequently from what’s in seeing.
I feel bad all of the articles are about how local business are getting screwed with bad reviews and having to refund purchases without it any recourse from their usps insurance because after the purchase files for a refund the package gets delivered.

I finally got a scan today on a eBay return I sent back on November 27 that hadn’t been scanned since November 29 in Linthicum Heights, MD. It took that long to be scanned today in Baltimore, 8 miles away from the last scan! I hope your package shows up soon!

The small companies I know are basically having up update their website to advise against using USPS right now because they’re getting shipping estimate of 14+ days for 2-3 day priority mail.

FedEx and UPS are also running behind but not as badly.

Tracking for everyone is terrible. Things aren’t getting scanned or they’re scanned a week after delivery, etc.

I really feel for postal workers this year. They’re in a no-win situation.

Our favorite postal worker retired this Spring and we never got to give him this year's gift. I wish we could contact him and give it to him because he really was a great postal worker. We don't yet have a regular here anymore and we get different postal delivery people every day it seems. Not sure what to do about the holiday gift.

I do make sure to be extra pleasant to mine when she delivers, she's a lovely person and I know that none of this is her "fault". At all. I think for the upcoming week I'll put out a "thank you" tray of goodies for all of our delivery folks.

I think that’s super sweet. My only concern is Covid 19 might make others wary of having baked goods from other families. I know cash is always appreciated. For us though we have all different postal carriers since our Chris postal guy retired so not sure what to do. We always gave him cash.

And I agree. A friendly and warm smile goes a long way to show they’re appreciated. I make sure I thank everyone. At the doctors offices I always thank them for being here through this pandemic and same to all delivery people and supermarket workers etc. I don’t think they can be thanked enough.
