I recieved an old, vintage wristwatch that has some well-worn and tarnished goldplate on it, and got the tip that I should clean it using the baking soda/aluminium method. I let it soak in the water for about one minute, and although it was heavily worn down to begin with I imagine the goldplating being even more dull now... Is it possible that it got ruined by the baking soda? I didn't let it sit in the water for that long time...
