Hello All,

I received the results from the gemologist at James Allen and ideal-scope images of the above mentioned diamonds. Here are the two diamonds I am considering again:

1) $7,120
SKU #: 204081
GIA: 5146468276
1.21 carat (6.81-6.81 mm)
Triple Excellent
I VS1
Medium Blue Fluorescence
HCA: 1.3

2) $7,060
SKU #: 189815
GIA: 5146430300
1.20 carat (6.77-6.79 mm)
Triple Excellent
I SI1
Faint Fluorescence
HCA: 1.7

The gemologists at James Allen favored Diamond # 2 (SKU # 189815). Here are their comments about them:

"I am happy to tell you that the gemologist found Diamond SKU # 189815 to the best performing of the three. It has very good fire brilliance and scintillation that is very well balanced throughout the diamond. Even though this diamond is an "I" in color, the fluorescence is causing it face up whiter, closer to an "H". Also, the feather on the edge of the diamond blends very well and can be covered with a prong with no durability risk. Whether we cover it or not, this diamond does face up eye clean.

Diamond SKU # 204081 is a close second with great fire brilliance and scintillation. It too is facing up closer to an "H" in color due to the florescence and it is eye clean."

I also attached the ideal-scope images to this post as well for your review.

Please give me your opinions on which one I should pick out of the two. Thank you!!!

1st stone. 2 grades higher in clarity and medium blue fluorescence offers better value. In terms of idealscope, 1st appears better even though the physical examination seem to favor the 2nd stone more.

I'd agree with this. I'm often confused by the remarks that come from the JA gemologists on here. In many (though not all) both the numbers and the images would seem to favor one that was not chosen by the gemologist and I really have trouble understanding that.

The IS on number 1 looks fabulous and the numbers fall in line with ideal specs whereas the specs for #2 are a tiny bit out of bounds but I am not a gemologist so perhaps someone else might explain the apparent discrepancy. :?: :?: :?:

I commented in your other thread and I said the first IS looked better too. I also think the stronger fluor is a bonus. Good luck!

The first one looks nicer in my opinion of what i could see from the video and also the clarity is better. Cut then, VS clarity is usually my preference :). and in terms of price there isn't much difference between the two. Unless you are very sensitive with the fluorescense then i would go for the second one.

Both stones looks great...

Option 1 - A little bit wider, better clarity but includes a stronger fluro. this will face up bigger (experts, correct me if i'm wrong)
Option 2 - Faint fluro.

I agree, #1 would be my pick as well for all the reasons that have been posted above. I found the comments of the gemologist interesting since he stated that the "faint" fl. of the 2nd stone is causing it to face up a whiter I color. This is surprising as I would not think that faint fl. could cause this effect but I could be totally wrong.

I prefer the larger stone #1, with the med. blue fl...which in certain lighting can give the stone a blue hue. Both look nice and I almost always suggest to the OP to go with the one that the gemologist says performs the best but this one is causing me to question his opinion.

if i were picking from the specs and I-Scope pic, then i'd go with stone #1.
