Hello everyone!

I am leaning more and more towards buying a completed ring on Whiteflash or Bluenile and I've narrowed my choices down to a few diamonds and settings. I was wondering if I could get some input on them.

TIMEFRAME:
- Need to have a completed ring by next Friday, ideally with an engraved message.

BUDGET:
- Around $8500 with everything.

STONES:
- Criteria: looking for as a good as a round brilliant cut as possible around 1 carat, would like it to be as a visibly clear/colorless as possible to the naked eye without caring too much about what it looks like under a loupe.

SETTING:
- Criteria: originally I was looking for a diamond setting but I got the sense that my fiance-to-be wants more of a cleaner, traditional look. So I am leaning towards a solitaire setting. Since she was so insistent on a round cut I thought I would go with a six prong setting to accentuate the round rock (to make it look round). Would like to stick with platinum as well.

QUESTIONS:
- Does Whiteflash do engraving with messages?
- Any comments or suggestions or other stones / settings that I should be looking at?

Thank you!!

I looked around to see if I could find anything with a little higher color but didnt see anything except some SI2s which
probably werent eye-clean.

I dont care for the first blue-nile setting. The second one is nice though. Both the WF settings are good.

Have you asked BN if that stone is eye-clean?

Do you know if your GF is color sensitive? Have you looked at any J colored stones? This video will give you
a relative feel for the color differences. If you have a Jareds near by you can go and look at their Peerless line
(these are well cut stones) and see the difference between a higher color and a lower color.

Oh, oh...I just found some BGD stones you might want to consider. They have fluorescence which usually helps to make a lower
color stone to appear whiter in sunlight.

Settings in plat for BGD would run $1250

Thanks guys! Really helpful so far!

I think my tolerance for "around 1 carat" is 0.90 to 1.10 (10%).

Also with respect to inclusions, I was hoping to stay with "eye clean" as my criteria.

Just wanted to further refine what I was looking for! Please keep the comments and suggestions coming!

Hello again everyone!

In my continuing saga of my pressured search for the perfect ring, I called up Whiteflash and wanted to share a few details that I learned from them that I had a hard time finding on their site.

I asked if they can do engravings on the ring because there wasn't an interface to do it on their site and they said that they could definitely do it if I called them after I placed the order online or call to place the order.

Also asked about return policy on engraved rings and they said that they would definitely take returns on rings even if they are engraved under their money back guarantee.

I thought this was a nice distinction between Blue Nile and Whiteflash since Blue Nile states that their return policy is store credit for returns on engraved rings (which I totally understand, but it also makes me feel better about Whiteflash)

Finally they said that if I place an order today they could get the ring shipped to me by next Friday, engraved and set! I told them I'd let them know =)

Well, thats good news from Whiteflash!

edit
That G stone that nfowife posted is a nice stone. Just make sure its eye-clean. If eye-clean I would probably
take that over a J.

Great to hear - WF does have great customer service!
