Upgrading Setting - Which One?

Ritani was one of my favorites, too, but I liked the ones that had bands closer to maybe 2.5mm in width..still thin, but not too thin. I looked at one under the microscope and the pave is flawlessly set with little prongs. I couldn''t remember about the sizing area, but that is essential, I think. I didn''t size my rings for 25 years, but I did need to size them then. So I always advise a sizing area if you hope to wear your rings long term. Ask for yours to be made that way even if the samples don''t have it.

Hey rainydaze, I just came across this setting while I was looking for something else:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/sizing-balls-how-do-these-work.21863/

Looks kinda like a cross between the first and last Verragios you posted. I don''t know anything about it though...

thanks jstarfireb - i do like that style too. i think that is a verragio as well, and that may be a good compromise between too much pave and having just a little something extra. i''ll have to take a look at that one when i go to the jeweler that carries verragio. i appreciate you keeping me in mind and passing that along!!

oh, jstarfireb, i just realized who you are......the gal with the custom setting for a princess that WF did, with the surprise diamond! i knew your ''name'' was familiar, i LOVE your setting! how was it going custom? are you still thrilled with your setting?

I love verragio rings... I think if I had been forced to order something stock it would have been a verragio ring. There are *sooo* many beautiful rings out there but there is something about these that is just.... I dunno, I really like them. I love the company whiteflash too though so you shouldn''t go wrong there :)

thanks kcoursolle, that''s a great suggestion. i was actually wondering if anyone did that (sent out settings for a ''showing''). i thought i had read postings where a vendor did that for a customer. i like the idea of buying from pearlman''s too (i wish he carried verragio) so if he were willing to do that it could work out quite well!!

for further reference, here is the verragio without the pave on the prongs. it''s not the best pic of it, but the best i could find that would allow me to pull it off the web. something about those v-shaped heads/prongs. i LOVE ''em.

yes that''s it for me as well! I have a V AND a U incorporated into my head because I liked them both haha! The V is the way the Verragio is and the U is across the shank. Love it!!

I love verragio...........

acutally Ritani has been doing the head on their rings like that for some time. Lynn B had WF make her ring with it and then it became a staple on their site. So, Ritani could probably easily make that head on a pave band for you. Here''s one of their 3 stone rings which I''d bet you could get with all princess stones.

this picture is from pearlmans website..
OK!!! so i have finally had a chance to try some rings on, specifically verragio and ritani and we have a WINNER! over the course of the time since i posted, i eliminated the verragio after trying on the plain three stone and having it not wow me. i continued to like looking at the WF legato pave and lynn b''s legato fishtail pave, and figured if nothing i tried on in the b&m''s wow''d me, then i would order the wedding band from WF; if i liked that, i would go ahead and do the ering.

but mark morrell kept calling me name too; i am a quality fanatic and was willing to sacrifice side stones or pave to get a high end piece from him. but, i was somewhat anxious at the thought of going custom, i''m not confident in communicating my thoughts well, and i wasn''t even sure of what i wanted. from his website, i see he wants clearly defined projects. eek! plus, it seems you have to get into the project before you can get an idea of the cost, and since the sky is not the limit, that could be trickly. but if that''s the way i had to go, so be it, i''d get my act together and jump in and hope for the best.

of course, there was one more option that i had a feeling would work out. RITANI!!! i finally got down to the B&M in time to really try them on. at first we looked at scott kay (nah) and then memoire (hmmm) but finally we made our way over to what i was really anxious to see. they had the three-stone princess version of the one mrssalvo posted in this thread (without the pave on the shank) and WOW!! WOW!!! first let me say that as i slipped it on my finger i could not BELIEVE how it felt, so smooth and cool and weighty and silken. so right off i was even more impressed than i thought i would be. and to boot it had everything i originally wanted in the new setting, sides that tapered in toward the stone, some height to it, a unique and interesting profile that allows you to see the sides of the diamonds and is feminine, beautiful delicate non-corner prongs, a band that was not too wide, and gorgeous gorgeous sparkle and flash. the thin pave band and matching wband that neatfreak and others have was there too, so i tried them on as well. they were definately wow too, but in a very different way. much more subtle and delicate and i think had i had that set from the beginning, i would happily wear them ever after. but it was the three stone that i keep seeing on my hand in my mind''s eye. and i love that it is simple, classic, and durable. i am not a careful person, and i wear my set ALL the time, so this is probably a more practical choice for me.

now the question is, do i take the setting they have here (said they''d talk to jeweler to be sure, but my stone appears same size as CZ center and should be an easy fit) and walk out same day, do i send my stone in to ritani and have them build ring to suit my stone and wait 6 weeks and sweat out shipping or do i have them order ring with my stone''s dimensions and then set it in store when it arrives (they are reputable store and i trust them to set well)? OR do i order through pearlman''s and send it stone, etc.? i have sent a quote request off to pearlman''s, guess pricing will help my decision. i am thinking i will have my stone appraised first (came with EGL and i would be devestated if it chipped, i LOVE my stone, but i want to be sure i have the most info for insurance in case a replacement is necessary) and the idea of having a new setting made just for me and my stone rather than one that''s been in the showroom and tried on who knows how many times.

so mrssalvo, you have special powers! it''s like you just knew.......

a huge thank you to all who took the time to weigh in on my choices, every comment helped me clarify in my mind what i was after and either confirmed my thoughts or offered something i hadn''t thought of that mattered. i can''t get ahold of a photo of this ritani or i''d post it, sorry! speaking of which, any one else a little frus with ritani''s new site? so time-consuming, and doesn''t always work on my up-to-date computer, and hard to sift through and really see the rings. beautiful, but not user friendly, IMO.

YAY! I love that ritani MsSalvo posted for you!! It''s stunning. If Pearlman''s is comparable in price I''d send it to them or buy at the local jeweler and have ti custom fit and set by Ritani. Either way you need a complete appraisal before you send anything anywhere.

CONGRATS on your decision!
