Hi all,
This is my first post here and I'm hoping you're able to help me out with deciding whether or not to upgrade to a larger stone.

I'm currently wearing a 1.02 ct solitaire diamond (6.54 x 6.56 x 4.04) but recently was given the opportunity to upgrade to a 1.2 ct stone (6.83 x 6.80 x 4.20). The thing is, I have had a case of diamond shrinkage for some time so initially I was pumped about this upgrade. But now I'm worrying that the 1.2 stone is going to look a lot bigger than my original diamond and will be too flashy on my 4.25 finger. While I would love a subtle upgrade, I don't want it to look like I'm wearing an entirely new and bigger diamond.

So, my question is, how much larger is the 1.2 going to look? It SOUNDS huge, but I am no diamond expert, so please tell me your thoughts. Will people be able to tell I upgraded? Will it be a very subtle bump or will it be quite noticeable?? Thanks in advance.

It is a nice size upgrade and it definitely won’t be too flashy by any means. Who is the vendor that you are upgrading with? Do you have GIA certificate of your existing/future diamond? Please share it:)

It will be so slight that no one will know but you. You'd have to go to maybe 1.3-1.5 cts for anyone to notice, and even then, only someone extremely observant would notice.

The GIA certificate number for the new diamond is 2181910754! Stats are 1.2, VS2, excellent cut, polish and symmetry, faint fluorescence. HCA score of 1.1.

The GIA certificate of the 1.02 diamond I'm currently wearing is 6225912477.

Thoughts? Hit me with your expert opinions on the new diamond!!
