I''m delurking with a question! FI and I are thinking about upgrading my e-ring for our wedding (I''m only going to wear the one ring). I have a three-stone trellis and I want to keep my two side stones, which are .31 G SI1 GIA excellent (no other info, family stones...). My current centre is a wonderful WF ES 1.01 G SI1 that we''re hoping to trade in for a bigger ACA or ACAlike ES and save a few thousand.

BUT there aren''t at all many listed on the PS search between 1.5 and 2 ct. 1.5 mm is too small, and we don''t want to pay for the 2ct jump - the 1.75 (7.8ish mm) I saw at a local B&M was my sweet spot - still looked like a three stone ring with a big centre, not a solitaire with sides.

I found this on BN, so no pics (they''re checking if eyeclean for me), but from the numbers what does everyone think? I''m a bit of a colour snob and I don''t really like to go below H, but I''d happily consider an SI2 or a lovely I1. I like seeing my diamond''s speck signature from the pavillion :) Budget is around 15000 for this stone.

GIA (Oct 2 2008) 1.70 H SI2
7.60 x 7.67 x 4.73
Depth 61.9
Table 55
Girdle Med-SlThick Faceted
Crown 35 deg
Pav 40.6 deg
Star/LGF 50/80
Culet None
Polish/Sym Ex/Ex
Fluor None
9500$ (website price)

I know GIA rounds - how much might the worse case affect perfomance (from what I''ve read here, I think the C/P is approaching steep/deep..?)
Other options?

Thanks!

Not approaching steep deep--ca and pa are fine. Could be a winner if it's eye clean. Glad you delurked--Hope you stay!

I'll search a little for you.

Definitely check for eye-clean issue as the first inclusions listed is clouds, may also affect light returns in serious cases. Prefer crystal or pinpoints. Get an Independent appraiser? Other than that, numbers look good.

Ditto Coaties, the angles are fine - check carefully concerning those grade setting clouds that they aren''t affecting brilliance.
