Has anyone started considering an upgrade and then realized the value of their stone had appreciated so much that an upgrade made no sense at all?

How do you mean?

It''s likely that the value of the upgraded stone has also appreciated too (though the amount depends on the exact characteristics), so you kinda break even...

well if the trade in value is the original purchase price it really hurts..............

Perhaps get it regraded so you have a cert with a cut grade, get that backed up by an independent appraiser, and try selling it outright if you think you could get more money.

I didn''t keep my diamond long enough for that to be a problem. But the seller did mark it up several hundred when it was recently relisted.

True--however its an EC so there is no cut grade. Its a great stone but its still hard to sell such things as a independant person.
