Update the Populars?

The "Popular Site Searches and Conversations" box on the front page lists awfully old topics. Is this really what people are searching for? It would be nice if this feature could be automated to show the most active threads in a few key forums (maybe RT, SMTR, Hangout..).

I''m guessing that this feature is used most by newbies. Keeping it up to date could help them become a part of current conversations and encourage them to explore the site more.

You are right.

The Goal of the area is to have the most current stuff that the community is looking at and the most popular searches that seem to take people to us.

I am still putting it together.

And... how about changing the "most active" option to ID the threads with the most activity in the past 24 hours or week, rather than the longest threads ever?

Or maybe differentiate between "most posts" and "most active" with the latter listing threads with current activity?
