Heres an interesting one from my “gem haul collection”. It displays distinct chatoyany but it definitely isn’t sapphire. It’s a dark steel blue colour, almost matt as opposed to “glassy” and It isn’t quite opaque. It’s “light” for its size, so it’s a gem / mineral with a low specific gravity. Unfortunately I don’t have a proper camera but here it is.
A cat’s eye fibrolite? They used to have those on forevergemstones, but I just checked and there aren’t any in inventory right now. Despite my username, I don’t have a cat’s eye anything yet.
Any thoughts?
