Hi, this is my first post on here, although I've been lurking for months My ring is currently being worked on by a designer in la. The pic below is my original ring that I asked him to remove the stones and make a new ring in a Halo setting with my old stones and a plain wedding band. As you can see my center stone is much warmer than my sidestones.

This is my final cad before casting. The bezel and gallery which are purple on the cad are both in rose gold and the rest of the ring is unplated white gold.

I'm wondering if I've made a mistake by making the ring two toned instead of it being either all white gold or all rose gold. I've read rose gold will balance out warm diamonds with a white diamond halo. I'm so confused and over my head. I'm afraid my ring isn't gonna look good when it's done. I'm also wondering what effect the rose gold is gonna have on an already warm diamond with whiter stones around it. Any advice is appreciated, u guys are awesome!

I think if the color difference between the diamonds pleased you, you will be pleased with the outcome.
I like the decision you made on rose gold/unplated white.
But are you getting his nickel free always white never needs plating alloy, or the other traditional nickel white gold one that’s a bit mellow yellow?
I’d prefer the nickel based unplated white. Because I think I’d enjoy the difference between the diamonds with the mixed metals.
If the goal were wanting to ‘hide’ the color difference difference between your diamonds - I’d be wary. It’s an expensive experiment - gold color effect on diamonds sometimes is a wildcard.
Plus 14 rose looks a lot different than 18, so there’s that at play as well.....

Ask the jeweller to send you a color rendering picture if possible?

It's David klass 14k palladium white gold, never needs plated.

Also I didn't like the difference in color grades on my original ring which is why I changed it to a floral halo. I thought if I put my champagneyish colored diamond in the middle of a flower with white halo diamonds it would give it purpose for lack of better words. I was also hoping the rose gold bezel would add a little bit of that coppery/pinkish color to my center diamond and get rid of some of the yellow. Below is a pic of my inspiration ring and I was hoping mine would have the same effect.

I didn’t understand until I saw the inspiration photo and now I totally get what your vision is and I think it’s fantastic. This is a brilliant way to feature your diamond. Usually people try to “disguise” a warmer color but this way it’s like owning it, featuring it, loving it. This should be absolutely stunning.

I think it will be amazing! I do think the rose gold will accentuate the color and of course DK's execution of the design will be perfection. I have been researching settings to emphasize diamond color for a possible reset project of my own. Other recommendations to increase color are usually to add a cup to the setting. Can’t wait to see your finished ring!

This design brings to mind one of my favorite PS rings ( also by DK). Although its in yellow gold, you can see how absolutely striking it can be, warm center accented by colored metal. I think your design looks great, and love the plan to use rose gold to highlight your center. You might check w DK, try and see the 14k vs 18k rose gold, there is a difference in the tone.
This was @msop04 's similiar version, just gorgeous!:

Love this ring! It’s also what immediately came to my mind - but this stone is very low on the alphabet, guessing OP’s stone is not. But concept is the same.
Embrace the difference. Complement it. But be wary of trying to mask it.

@Ashley88
What is your center stone graded at?

I used to own this ring. Vendors photos but they are pretty spot on.
It is a GIA K faint brown in rose gold. The difference you see in the pictures of the stones hue is true and it depended on the type of lighting.
The halo ring posed above is a decidedly yellow tinted stone.

Just pointing it out that sometimes it’s a wildcard and it may be shifty.
Be wary if you feel you can’t embrace that.
I think it will be lovely.

I think it will be really beautiful!

It's a j so not far from yours

@Rfisher did the setting you posted have a cup under the stone? Not trying to thread jack from OP, just researching...

@syd33
No cup.
I ‘upgraded’ shortly after receiving this pear ring to a slightly larger cushion that’s faint pinkish brown, and the same setting plat/18k rose. B39481E7-146E-4AB2-9633-890121DA01EB.jpeg

Sorry OP- Hope you don’t mind

Of course not!

I think there’s a thread knocking around here -maybe had DBL and VC talking- about ‘ways other than cupping’ to have metal impart color. How the bezel/gallery/prongs play into it and can be fashioned in different ways that a skilled jeweler can use to their advantage to play up - or prevent- the metal color as a consideration.
Mysterious.
The cut of the diamond also has a say in how it accepts the metal color and throws it back at your eye - or doesnt. I think that was also mentioned.
Or. I’m just making it up.
I can’t tell reality from fiction anymore.
:crazy eyes:

Thank you @Rfisher and I will look for the thread you mentioned.

I also forgot that I have a stone set in rose gold by DK - it isn't a J - its an I, its tiny at 0.29 and lower quality--Si2 maybe... I don't really notice any change to the color from the setting, but it could be just me--or that it is so small--anyway, here are some bad photos of it...

LOve the inspiration ring and I think yours will turn out just as nice

Personally, I love the contrast between a warm diamond and a bright white halo so I think this will look fabulous. I have an O colored diamond that looks like antique lace. It's not set yet but it pairs so beautifully with 18k rose gold (which is slightly more golden / less pink than the 14k). I think adding rose gold around the center will really make it shine. It's a great way of rocking that color instead of trying to make it blend in.

Wow, it’s stunning!

Looks Amazing!

I think it turned out very nice!

I think it came out wonderful!
I too hope you post hand shots
