3.7? carat oval unheated green sapphire. Please ignore my yucky silver ring. I like to buy them in silver to see how I like them, and then get gold if I do  I think I bought this from Tan quite some time back, but I just cannot remember anymore, but I do know it was certified with the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand, and I know he has used them.

I would like to have this set in a ring I will wear every day. I have large hands, so big is just fine : ). I would like to do something with diamonds, just not sure about shape/size, or how to set the stone... prongs? bezel? what color of gold? Should I set it N/S? E/W? Diamonds around the bezel E/W? Thanks a million!

I love the colour of it! I would go with white gold (personal preference, but I think yellow gold would go with a green sapphire as well), and would get a N/S setting. Also, I'm not a fan of bezels on oval cuts. I'm afraid I can't suggest anything on side-stones as I'm not a big fan of three-stone rings. 8)

Nice emerald! I'm not crazy about bezeled emeralds either -- they need to sparkle all around. Side stones would look super with that, but I'd keep them rather small to allow the emerald to be the star of the show. For me, YG or even RG (opposites on the color wheel). I have a nice green tourm I plan to set in RG. Good find, Soberguy.

interesting color

Soberguy, not to rock a recent boat, but I just LOVE
the man-rings that SleepySpinel has.....
Did you see those?
I am not at all sure about diamond accents in a man's ring, though,
or even prongs, for that matter.
but that's just me.....
Nice color on that sapphire !!!! Unusual !!!

Wow, that's a great green sapphire. I actually really like the look of the setting it's currently in.

I was thinking yellow gold with bar set trap diamonds one the side, bezel set the sapphire.

Wow thanks for all the help and great advice!

Hey nothing wrong with silver! :) I love green. Nice color!

You know, Soberguy, I wonder if you might like this vendor's esthetic ?
I think her rings are very unique, bold, and many have a rather masculine feel.
Several PS'ers have commissioned work from her, with stunning results.
I bet she could come up with something to your liking .....

Great color and I also think it looks great in the current setting.

What is the website for that vendor? Thanks!

Here ya go:

I've heard that she really works with ppl to get what they want,
looks like quality work.
Packrat and Crasru have both used her, I believe, and I
look over her site all the time
HTH :))

I adore mokume gane - my husband's wedding band is done in tri-gold mokume.

I would set EW with a mokume shank and a semi bezel holding the sapphire. The shank I would do in high contrast - so a high karat yellow gold with white gold and possibly a small amount of silver (that can be blackened). The semi-bezel in wg and quite chunky - you could add some melee just behind the bezel where it joins the shank...

Nice green sapphire - they're hard to find in a good colour.

Has anyone used Krikawa? And, could the semi-bezel be tension set?

I'd be more inclined to do a pseudo-tension set.
