Sorry this is so long, but I just don't know what to do! The woes of purchasing online, sight unseen! I recently purchase a U prong platinum 5 stone ring. I was leaning towards a trellis, but the sales rep kept telling me how beautiful the U prong was and sent several pics. I ordered 5 I colored ~ .35 stones for a total carat weight of 1.78. When the ring arrived, I was not sure I liked it, but thought maybe it was just because it had been so long since I wore a 5 stone, and my last one was 1.0 cts.
Within days of receiving the ring, I went out of the country for a month and a half. The longer I look at the ring, the less I like it. Here are my issues:
1. Color - Part of the problem is the I colored stones. My wedding set is a 1.73 J colored stone set with .10's E and F in color (all stones are AGS0 Ideal cut). I do not notice the color in the J at all, and I get tons of compliments every day on my set, so I assumed I would be fine with I colored stones. I think the brightness of the .10's in my wedding set is really eye catching. With that being said, I know I want to switch out to F/G colored stones (probably more F).
2. The setting - I am questioning if switching the stones will make enough of a difference or if I should try to see if I can switch out the band as well for a trellis (if that is even possible). With the U prong, the setting does sit up a bit higher than what I am used to and it is not very delicate.
Any words of wisdom? I know this is a bit of a ramble, but I am just sick about the amount of money I spent on something I don't love. I plan to call the vendor later today to discuss my options, but would like a little PS feedback, please.
