We got engaged soon after I graduated from high school, without a ring. We could not marry for five years to keep him on his parents' health insurance, due to his serious health issues. Two years into the engagement I decided I wanted a ring and we bought this sweet 1950s ring from eBay, with about a .2-.25 ct center. I think it was $200 in the late 90's. I loved it so much and still do all these years later. It's a size 3.5 and didn't fit me for the last five years due to weight gain, but I can finally wear it again! The stone is a sweet little glitter ball and I will never give it up. It's the perfect ring in settings where a large diamond is not appropriate.

So lovely! Could I ask if you think even a smaller ACA is worth getting over a regular stone of the same size? I'm thinking of getting a .4/.5ct ACA next year :)

Thank you! My original engagement ring is a .27 AGS 0, and the ACA definitely has more sparkle and fire.

Note an ER, however it is my every day RHR when it is a bit OTT to wear the bigger EC ring.

Approximately 0.47ct in a platinum band, can't remember the exact specification, shown here with my larger EC which is an E VS1.

FE7BD459-56C8-4C11-A7C8-1D79E2B9AF12.jpeg I’m bit embarrassed to say I know next to nothing about my ring. We weren’t young and definitely didn’t rush to get engaged (were 33yo and had been together for 14yrs LOL) but we just saw the ring whilst we were overseas in Hawaii and loved the marquise shape plus it was under $1000 USD which we were happy then as we had not long started our business.

I remember that it was 0.30 for the main stone and has white gold in the middle with yellow gold for the Main part of the ring.

I was waiting for one of our children to finish martial arts training so snapped a few clearer photos (who knew it was so hard to get good photos of jewellery with an iPhone ).

Gorgeous @Kyton! I love how the shoulders sweep up to the ends of the marquise. I've never seen one quite like it, I love that it is unique but with classic features! And the marquise is a beautiful shape, the proportions are spot on.

Dandi thank you for your kind words. I know nothing about the stone (colour / clarity / whether it has a bow tie etc) but we did fall in love with the setting back in 2004.

I’m planning on getting a 2 carat marquise for our 20th wedding anniversary in 2024 and I’ve even toyed with the idea of making exactly the same setting but with better stones.

Kyton, am i seeing a wedding band there too? Was it custom made to fit?

Motown Mama it was a set with a fitted very thin band. I did buy two diamond set bands (off EBay no less, told you we really didn’t stress over our wedding jewellery ) that I wear instead of it if I’m going “out”. The gold band stays on my finger because it’s so thin and comfy even when I don’t wear my ER.

Here is another one of my .5cts:
The setting is platinum. Seller said the center stone is .4ct. It seems larger. I believe the stone is a transitional cut. It's a pretty nice stone. I saw a small facet abrasion under loup, but that's about it. This is one of those eBay purchases that turned out better than the listing photos indicated. Not bad for $500 USD!

This set is perfection.
Thank you so much! I really miss that diamond, not sure if I’m imagining it but it had the most rainbow fire out of the three CBIs I’ve had. Would love to buy it back with a good match for studs or side stones someday if it becomes available again!
