Same price, PLEASE HELP, the girdle seems to be the issue. One scores a 1.0 on the HCA and the other one scores a 1.5

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT

Hi, welcome to PS! Stick around because there are a lot of people willing to help you find something.

The first is far too shallow.

The second has a very thick girdle. Not only does it hide weight, but it can be difficult to set, though a good jeweler should be able to do it.

The difference on HCA has nothing to do with girdle, because HCA assumes a medium girdle.

Thanks for the reply any other opinions out there! Need your help, making purchase tomorrow!!!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT

Undecided, this is the purchase of a lifetime...you only get one chance to do it right. Why the rush?

Getting engaged next month. Time sensitive!

So... in your opinion... neither stone is a go....

May I ask WHY??

Sure.

Number 1 is going to to look very dark.

Number 2, with the very thick girdle, is holding extra weight there, so it (6.36 - 6.42) looks smaller than a 1 carat should (which is about 6.5 mm)

If you had to take a pick....

Which one would you go for?

I was told with #2....

I''m paying about $5,500

A diamond's cut is 50% of its price.

If I had to pick

I'd go with 2.

You''d want a cut grade higher than "good". Polish and symmetry at least very good. If you''d go to G or H color, you could get a finer cut stone than those.

Ever consider going down a color grade and trade for a better cut?

Excellent advice. Going down a color or clarity grade (or even both for that matter) will not impact anything regarding diamond beauty or face up appearance. A superior cut however will make all the difference.
