Ok, friends...while the efforts to redo the on-line tutorial here are temporarily on hiatus...(oh, who are we kidding...not a lot of input there, right?...)

Let's show them how to do it. Right here. We'll roll up our sleeves and do it ourselves.

Step one:

Reuse what's already available. People have already figured this out...let's not recreate the wheel (But how to do that?)

Step two

Use Google. That's how we all came to Pricescope anyway, right?

Step three

Which search terms to enter? Ok...maybe this is where we need to roll up our sleeves.

I'll share two ideas...but others can help with more discoveries:

Search terms:

1) diamond education ideal cut reflector

(search terms why?)...the first four...maybe you would have thought of on your own...but reflectors? Anyone who knows about that knows about this stuff, right?

Find this site. It's wiki. It's not bad, right?

2) diamond education shill free help forum junkies

(search terms why?)...see the introduction to the tutorial currently...remove needless propositions to get to the core, skip the first result which is Pricescope anyway.

Find this site. It's not wiki...but a number of interesting things appear. I think it's political. Maybe there's a relationship between diamonds, politics, and the cutting edge. Maybe I need to go back to the drawing board...

Anybody else?

step 1: asschers rule!
step 2: read threads in FAQ
step 3: post pictures!
Step 4: kicken means buy it :}
step 5: see step 1

1. Stand on street corner.
2. Open wallet.
3. Wave large wad of cash shouting, "I need to buy a diamond."
4. Complete purchase.

Easy, no?

Garry, don''t they have sarcasm down under?

I did not see that on the site linked Cap''n?

Actually Cap''n Cook bought sarcasm with him as a viral infection passed thru aboriginies

Well...all right...this is a sidebar, yes...but we have to get back to the task at hand...

Still...

We invented it.
I do have a proof text for this...however...we have to teach the folks "down under" how to spell humor (...if they''d known, I''d have found this sooner!).

Maybe...once we go back in time...we can reinvent the tutorial. Imagine, for example. if Tolkowski invented the marble. Do you suppose instead of proportions...we''d be looking at how sperical a diamond could be?

This thread is cracking me up.

I can''t believe I keep peeking to see who says what next. heheee

Humour......every one with a better than elementary education knows that Ira.

And humour actually came from UK. The scot''s are pretty good at it, and the english polish it

Garry, this is of course like me telling my friends what I of course know to be true...that everyone outside of Chicago speaks with an accent.
More reviewed here. Further, since we''re told:

"Commonwealth usage. Commonwealth countries normally follow British usage. In Canada -or endings are not uncommon, particularly in the Prairie Provinces, though they are rarer in Eastern Canada.

Certainly the English have a well-refined sense of humor--they're responsible for foisting both the US and Australia on the world, after all--but it seems they were a bit late to the game:

Is it just me or does that carving resemble John Q.?

HAHAHHA - as usual, Capt......witty and HYSTERICAL!

Love the methodology.

Ira......I consider myself fairly evolved, and my reading comprehension ranks pretty high. However, once again, I find myself scratching my head wondering "What the heck is Ira talking about?"

What is the point of the thread?

First...is there any dispute in this?

Thought I'd take the bull by the horns, don't you know.

Alternately...Al, you could just dictate to Garry...

But...read the time machine piece, just for context.

Since you're connected and all...let's just finish this right up. I've got my pen out, if you'd prefer...

P.S. Captain...I like it...and DO note the resemblance. (And the currect spelling of humor, by the way).

My dear Ira......

As I typically do, I *did* read from the beginning......several times, so that''s most assuredly not the problem.

The problem is this: all the words you strung together are in English, but they don''t appear to convey a point without further information.

Has someone suggested redoing the tutorial? Is there some reason it''s supposed to be under reconstruction? If so, when did it go on hiatus? Who was doing it (if anyone)? How long has it been?

If you''re suggesting to reuse what''s already there, what''s the point of redoing it at all? What the heck is the suggestion to Google....how does that help?

You apparently assume that everyone is in on the info, and you do this OFTEN when you post.

Why not just say (in easy, direct English), "Hey, I noticed the tutorial info is getting kind of old, and I thought we might work together at updating it. Any takers?"

I like you, Ira, but I KNOW there are a ton of times when your posts just aren''t clear to readers (as in MANY readers). Communication is only effective if people understand what you mean........know what I mean?
1.gif

Ira,
If you could clarify what you think needs updating, that might help us understanding what, in the name of all that is holy, that you are talking about

Al & Rising,

It''s not that I can''t find the link (as I did this yesterday...confirming it still exists...but is simply now not pinned to the top of the fricken page)...but...it seems like it might be an appropriate opportunity to review the etymology of the phrase:

hung out to dry

Ok, I give up......I don''t speak in tongues.
33.gif

I can''t offer help or comment further unless you find an interpreter to help us out.

Ira, I''m sure you have a point, and I''m sure it''s well-intentioned.....but it ain''t coming out in EEEEEEEEEEnglish.

This thread makes sense to me.

I guess I just have a weird sense of humor.
11.gif

Well, I appreciate the Captain's support, despite the absence of an identifiable context.

Here it is...the motivating thread...which was retired from being pinned to the top of this very page for 2 and 1/2 weeks....only put to rest (or let be un-pinned) only Monday of this past week. For about 18 days, it was side by side along the "Helpful threads archive" now still pinned above.

I started this thread a day or two after this thread was no longer pinned to the top of this page.

Although I have been known to be obscure...it's my clear impression that anyone who would have reference to that thread would have the context for this one.

This must, I think (?) be a lesson to us about two things:

1) to Andrey....and friends...about what people notice, don't notice, and what can and can't be done about it.

2) Frankly...by extrapolation...is this a vote for GIA's cut rating system, and against AGS'? We can run models about light performance, and what should be visible, ideally...but without clinical trials...maybe we can't be as sure as we'd like.

with warm regards...

Ira~I just looked at thread you linked to. Unless my eyes deceive me--which is entirely possible--all of this material is already incorporated into the Advanced Tutorial. Is this not so

Hi, Marian, thanks for writing.

Unfortunately, when I started this little thread, it was designed to make a funny...but it has turned not so funny.

It was a semi-spoof on our lack of success to redo the tutorial (top to bottom)...which hardly got started.

Unless anyone would like to address that specific idea...not raised by me really at all in the first place...only by Garry and Andrey...then I suggest none of us return to this dark, cold little thread. I could suggest we close it, like JQ suggested his recent thread be made a FAQ out of the box (nevermind that not all significant vendors here use ASET), but that is a moderator call...and frankly...if the moderators would in fact like to comment about their current thoughts concerning the tutorial...this would be a perfectly appropriate place for such comments.

In other words...unless some productive insight is available...(or at least something funny is made to offer), le'ts be quiet here.

Again, warm regards,

FYI for all, I will continue to redevelop the tutorial, and Ira has been helping.
We have done 2 pages so far - one hard one - I would like to get thru 1 a week - but this is a rather busy time of year.

So dont give up on me Ira

I''ve really been no more helping than anybody else has been free to. Storm...you''ve helped...but not too many others. I''m sure when Garry begins the process again...it will just be open to everyone...as it was for several weeks recently. I dunno...maybe there was something about the title that made it seemed hidden from view?....this part is at least a little mysterious to me. Doesn''t everyone read really everything the moderator pins at the top?

Anywho...I have no greater access to assistance with revision than anyone else.
