I am pondering a very "simple" setting for an Emerald Cut engagement ring I''m dreaming of. I want my stone to be of the highest value that my boyfriend can afford. I am willing to sacrifice all the periphary bling that I see on so many e-rings and wedding bands these days. The artistic quality and substance of a platinum setting is my second priority. I would love an e-ring setting with beautiful prongs, for example, and a wedding band to match with a beautiful sentiment inscribed within it. Is anyone out there doing anything like this anymore? There are some gorgeous rings on these boards, don''t get me wrong. I''m all for diamonds; some settings look just too busy, though. Is there anyone here with any examples of the simpler side of wedding sets that would be willing to post their pictures?
Thank you!

You''d probably have more luck in the "Show Me the Ring" forum.

My favorite simple solitaire setting is the X-prong.

''PGTips'' has something very close - only her diamond is square step cut. These are among my favorite things around here... so... glad to see your post asking for something similar

Mark Morell has a simpler version too (below)... and there aren''t too many relatively low settings for smerald stones that still accomodate a weding band near them (without a large gap). For larger emerald cuts (there was one 7 cts or so around here!), this may well be out of the question. But then... who cares!

You are a girl after my own heart. I waited through ten years of marriage to get exactly what you just described...my "first" true wedding set is being made and will be here thursday!

While I love my platinum three stone ring, I really wanted a simple set.

I am getting an asscher cut / square emerald cut, and I too decided to go smaller and nicer for the stone. I don''t think it has to be perfect, but I am color sensitive (I just insulted a salesperson by guessing that their "G" princess cut was an I or J!) and because of the emerald cuts needing higher clarity, and better cuts, I didn''t want to sacrifice. The jeweler that I am using is handmaking a custom plain engagement ring, and also a matching plain wedding band. He is making the band to fit flush, and both are about 3mm wide each. I''ll copy a pic of the same band I am getting, but in the style he does for emerald cuts, from the dscaasi.com website. I just didn''t want to take away the beauty of the diamond with side diamonds on the ring or band. I love love love plain plat settings. Isaac and Dimend Scaasi was very helpful selecting a stone and handcrafts all of the sets very nicely from what I have seen. Thursday I''ll be able to tell you from firsthand experience!

I have always loved the set that someone just posted of PGTips. It was a copy of the Harry Winston solitaire. I wanted something slightly more substantial, but love that set.

I also love the simple plain bands of Stuart Moore (I think it is stuartmoore.com) although they can''t be sized and are very expensive.

Good luck!

You PS''ers never fail to deliver! Thank you for the gorgeous links and pictures. Glad to know I''m not the only "minimalist" around this site!
Best regards,
